huntinsonovagun
I won my first item from ebay! Quackhead Timber duck call. Couldn't find them anywhere around here, so I looked online....cheapest around $24.99 up to $30. Found a few on ebay, lost on one, and finally won! Got it NIP for $12.50 + $5.00 S/H. (Tell me they're not making money off S/H ) All in a day's work......

RTF
Re: I won! [ QUOTE ] (Tell me they're not making money off S/H ) [/ QUOTE ] Your kidding right ? You got a deal on S&H. I ship worldwide and $5.00 to ship out a duck call within the USA is more then fair. You have actual postage, packaging used , not to mention driving to the PO to ship it out. If they are shipping it out Priority mail it will cost them alone $3.95. That leaves them $1.05 to cover the cost of packing material, process your order and as most Ebay sellers have to, drive to the PO. Heck it cost me $5.00 just to drive to and back from the PO. huntinsonovagun
Re: I won! Wow...some posts surprized me!! Seriously though, I just sent a box of 10 arrows (a LONG box I might add) for $5.00, send a CD for .89. I sell textbooks on half.com and get the BIG ones shipped for around $3.00....I know most duck calls don't weigh that much. Most people also don't make a special trip to send something....they do it on their way to work. Packaging is expensive at the post office, but if you plan ahead you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Now, they're not making a lot on s/h, but I still believe they're making a dollar or 2. wow....I typed a lot about the mail..... I'm ready to sit in a tree..................................... Bow Hunter Derek
Re: I won! I'm with you on the shipping thing. I don't get it. I've bought on Ebay a lot, also sold some things there as well as here and on other sites. No way does it cost $5 or $7 or $9 to ship small items. I've shipped many things that cost me only $3 or so to ship. Every time, no special trip was made. I maybe had to go a mile out of my way to get to the post office or UPS place, but no special trip. Heck I got something off Ebay just last week. Paid $5 for shipping. A great product arives in a padded envelope (less than $1) with less than $1.00 in postage (all stamps). He probably put it in his own mail box with the flag up, so there was no trip to the post office. That is more than $3.00 in additional proffit right there. Multiply that over many many sales over the course of a year and it is more profit for the sales person. Now I knew the cost of shipping in the bid, but come on. You can not tell me that people are not making a bunch of money off shipping and handling. The more important thing is to let us know how you like that call when you get it. So far I really like mine. Can't wait to hunt with it next weekend.
Guest Xen
Re: I won! well, i think you're a bit wrong on the shipping thing, $5.00 isn't bad, in fact, i think it's a great deal. basic shipping costs increase by package sizes, wieghts, delivery confirmation, insurance, etc. i usually only ship via ups or fedex, just so that i can get a signature. all it takes is shipping something the cheap way through the mail once, and a person that says "hey, i never got it" and you'll be glad you paid extra. if you look around at auctions, you'll be suprised to see that $5.00 for shipping is on the low end. but, for costs alone, and not including packaging or the time it takes to prepare the shipment or get it dropped off, you'll find that $5.00 "should" get you either UPS/FedEx/DHL ground shipping coast to coast in the US, or Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. the big difference is that with ups/fedex/dhl, your package is automatically insured for $100. also, this is rough estimates on a 1lb package.
