EKYhunter
Guys I've got an Encore .50 caliber in RTHWD and got a Nikon Pro Staff 3x9x40 mounted on it last week. The scope is RTHWD Green. I love camo guns. I see that some people do a lot of modifications to Encores like having the QLA removed, trigger jobs, and oversized hinge pins. Just wondering if any of you who shoot an Encore have done any of these or know others who have? What were their/your results? Worth the time/money? Thanks for your replys! AJ
Re: Encore Modifications I would say shoot the gun and see how it shoots first. If it meets your standards, why modify it? On my Encore, like most guns, it definately gets a trigger job.

too_pointer
Re: Encore Modifications I wouldn't mind a trigger job on my Encore, but see no reason to alter any other way. It shoots great the way it is. too_
tedicast
Re: Encore Modifications I have a stainless/hardwoods 209x50 Encore. Before I ever fired the gun, I put an oversized Bellm hinge pin in it. You could feelr the play. My brother and I bought #2 reamer from Bellm, along with # 2 pins. My gun averaged 2 1/2 - 3" groups at 100 yards with just the hinge pin mod. I sent mine out, and had David White cut the QLA, and modify my Leupold Quick Release base to a 6 screw. It will now consistently shoot 1" groups at 100 yards. Here is a 3 shot group at 100yards....I'm not the greatest bench shooter, I'm sure the gun is capable of better Here a few links.... sasksheds
Re: Encore Modifications I had a trigger job done thats it.It shoots as tight as the pic above. No need for any other mods. The trigger comes way to stiff from the factory but is that way because of legal reasons. AJ
Re: Encore Modifications I might try a custom oversized pin as long as I did not have to ream the frame. With the consistancy of T/C frames, it does not suprise me that some can use an oversized pin without reaming. Anyhoo, I would not hesitate to try the method that's listed on PR's site. [/ QUOTE ] The reason we decided to ream is that my bro is a machinist, He brought home pin gauges, I believe they are called, and the diameter of both holes in the frame were different. I don't plan on selling any of my Encore stuff, so reaming is no big deal to me. There was a big difference in the tightness of the reciever/barrel assembly after we reamed, and put in the #2 pin.
