RyanH
Ok so we leave the other place, and head to our new destination. As we drive down the road we are just looking at the mountians just in AHH! I wanna live there! LOL. Anyway We finally come to our Turn! Blanca Basin Road. Once again when we took our turn we started seeing game again! Tons of mule Deer. Here is a pic os a decent buck! Here is a pic as I look at the Deer. D thought it was a cool pic! So Do I. So anyway we get to where we are parking the truck and Get our packs and gear all loaded up! We only have about 1.5 miles to walk this time. So we packed alot lighter to make it easyier and made a couple trips! Once we got to where we were going we found a lake up there. AND boy was it incredible. It was just amazing. I was in love with nature once again! Check this place out! There was also a stream that ran into that lake. The water was freezing cold. But it was very pretty! We we get there and snap a couple of pics and get ready to set up camp! So we get camp set up and all our gear and stuff ready we so tired to even think about hunting. Plus it was getting late. So we hung out at camp listening for bugles, and such. We also took some time to study the map! Here is Donavan in action. So as night comes we herd nothing and just cook up dinner and enjoyed the night. The next morning we awake at first light and walking up the huge mountains to find some elk. We get to the top of the mountian to look in this BOWL our buddy told us about! We hang out there for awhile trying to locate a Bull with no luck! We all then split and go seperate ways. No more then an hour later I call in 3 cows. I pass on the shot since its early in the hunt. WE stay in the woods all day with no more luck! We go to camp around 5pm and we are STARING. But we wanted to eat a KILLER MEAL. So Donavan had a fishing lic and also brought his fly rod. Here he his in action once again! Oh yea! Its Dinner Time. Brook Trout! Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Elk Hunt Part Two! This is NOT Colorado. Colorado is flat & UGLY. It's a rumor started by the DOW to sell hunting licenses---WE don't have ANY elk or mule deer in this state. Try Wyoming. LOL It is God's country !! Love it here. RyanH
Re: Elk Hunt Part Two! [ QUOTE ] Ryan, Remember me? I am the one who informed you of the season dates. It appears that you may have been at Opal Lake. Is that correct? I hunted that area for the last day of our hunt just prior to you going on your trip. It was windy and we didn't hear anything but it was a beautiful area. We are hoping to go back next year. We also hunted fish creek but would not go on that trail again. It took us 4.5 hrs to get to camp and we were carrying about 65 lbs each. Just about killed us flatlanders. [/ QUOTE ] Yes I do remeber you and I also wass camping at opal lake. Your luck sounded about like mine! Did you ever see a black titan there?
