Guest Andrea
the first time you ever shot and killed your first animal??? I did. My first buck was a spike. As soon as I shot him I started bawling like a baby. I even told him I was sorry!!! But I quickly got over it when everyone was congratulating me on my first buck. The only other time I have cried when hunting was when I made a bad shot on a 5 point. Not sure why, but I swore I had the crosshairs on the spot behind his shoulder. When I pulled the trigger, he jumped. He landed on his back and rolled over and then STOOD UP. He stood there licking his nose. I could see what I had done. I shot too low and hit his frontleg and underside. I had to shoot him again. I'm telling ya'll....I was a pitiful sight. I wanted to throw my gun away. But I dried it up cause I didn't want my boys to see me like that. (Didn't want to scar them for life. ) I did quite a bit of target practice after that with different angles and shooting heights. I never want to do that again. Anyway....just wondered if any of ya'll ever got a little teary while hunting??
Deb
Re: Did you cry I didn't cry with my first kill, but I sure wanted to. It was probably an older yearling and it cried for its mother before it died. That just about unglued me!!

Guest lostiniowa
Re: Did you cry My first bow kill I was so exited I had to sit back down. I killed a very nice 10 point and put a great shot on him. I could see the great sign and trail from the tree but he just disapeared down the backside of the hill. I was sooo excited besides my wedding It ranks up there with winning my first college golf tournament and getting my first real paycheck. I can still picture it clear as a day. leatherneck
Re: Did you cry My first deer was a doe. I was 9 years old and did not make the best shot. When Dad and I found her she was behind a bush laying down. She looked up at me with those huge brown eyes and just fluttered them and then let out a sigh. Dad went ahead and put her down, but that stuck with me for a long time. And yes I did cry....So did Dad.
waterfowler_gal
Re: Did you cry No I haven't.. However I have cried happy tears a few times... when I have had a successful hunt or shot... My favorite clip of a man "some what crying" is on the newest Monster Buck's when Ralph Cianciarulo shoots that MONSTER MULEY from staking up on it stocking footed.... Now those are tears of JOY! I love animals but when you adrenaline is going there is something about hunting that it just feels right...
Turkeygirl
Re: Did you cry My very first turkey I got, which was a fall bird, I was so happy I cried my head off, lol. I hunted really hard that fall, my first season hunting actually, and the second to last day I nailed a jake. I was crying, lol. Luckily that other hunter was way over on another hill.lol

ladydiehard
Re: Did you cry No, I didn't cry. I was mad. The morons in my hunting group at the time decided that my buck had to be split among the group members equally all because it was the ONLY deer any of us had gotten that year. The group consisted of 5 people and the buck was a spike. I was just a kid at that time, about 17 years old. Had I been older, this share and share alike equally would NOT have happened. A couple packs of meat maybe but not equal division for all. Sometimes group hunting is a disadvantage!

VtBowhunter
Re: Did you cry I did. I was 11 or 12 and it was nothing more then a Squirrel, but it was hard earned and after I killed it I realized how important all the things my father taught me about killing and managing land and game were. Ozarkgal
Re: Did you cry No but I did get up and start jumping up and down and giving my husband a hug and a kiss I was so glad he was there. And my second deer I was even more excited because I did it all by myself kill, drag out of the woods, check it in and clean it.

birddog
Re: Did you cry I have seen a grown man cr,y when a hunt comes together successfully....and then while skinning the creature, he slipped and cut himself very deeply that would be the only excuse I could see! Only kidding...I have seen a buddy cry while dedicating an antelope to his father in law who passed away the night before the hunt...I smile and shake so bad, I can't imagine throwing tears into the mixture! I did shed a tear while writing a poem to my brother, when he got his first bow killed animal.....a bear, a month before his wedding...his wedding gift was my poem and his picture with his bear, stating a bear rug was his wedding present....a little redneck perhaps
Alisha
Re: Did you cry I cried when I shot my first squirrel... (still can't believe I cried over a tree rat, lol) but I definately didn't cry after I shot my first deer. I didn't cry but I swear I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest! I was shaking TOO bad...!
