BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers The story Ok now that I have time to tell you guys.... and gals... Got into the stand about 6:10 and within minutes heard a deer walking just to the south of me but I couldn't make out what it was but I figured it was a buck and I had a pretty good idea which buck it was so I lightly grunted just to keep the deer in the area till I could see which one it was... at about 6:45 I look up and sure enough its our favorite littel fork horned 5 point that we have seen at just about every one of our stands on our property hes a curious thing to a week ago he came into the rattle bag running was real funny to see... so I just watched this little buck hit a scrape on the hill in front of me and wonder off downt he hill...sat there for another hour not seeing a single thing not buck no doe nothing .... very uncharacteristic of this stand usually we have does and yearling all around me. well about 8:05 I hear deer blow behind me (which is the direction of the wind so I knew he didnt wind me) but I started to grunt to see if I could get him to come my way I figured he was blowing at my buddy who was in the tree stand about 200 yards east of me. Well as I am looking for this deer I look off to my left and out of the SW here comes this big bosied deer trotting/running down the hill directly at me I looked and looked again all I saw was how wide he was I quickly grabbed my bow hoked up the release ... now the deer is about 45 yards from me and still coming at an angle right towards me .... this dude was on a mission... I drew back not knowing what direction he would go wether he would cross in front of me or to the left of me so I quickly found 2 shooting lanes in either direction to shoot.... he went left (the direction I would have prefered) and at 10 yards he walked slightly quartering to me.... I just let him have it the shot was a bit back but it clipped the left lung and exited out behind the rib cage ( yes guts) but I musta hit the spleen or something cause I had instant dark red blood right at the arrow and the arrow was covered with real dark blood. Well the Traking job was real easy even though the deer ran 250 or so yards he ran right by my buddys stand and crashed on the hill up behind his stand he actually watched him go down .... lucky aye lol ... any the best part of this story is that .... remember the deer that blew behind me ... well that was the deer that Scott shot at and hit a branch and missed it was the other deer that we were sorta hunting it was this real nice dark horned 8 point that has some real nice mass to him... anyhow he hit a branch and missed it .... in a way if he wouldnt have blown at Scott I may not have grunted when I did to try and draw that deer in to me ..... the only thing that coulda made this better for me is if Scott would have gotten his deer to I would much rather have put 2 deer in that 2005 Expedition (LOL yes thats what we drive for a hunting vehicle) Anyhow that is the story as it went down... For the record Scott saw this deer up on the hill behind him on saturday and he wouldnt respond at all to any kind of calling, grunting, snort/weeze, can anything just mozzied on like nothing was up .... tuesday morning was obviously a different story... This is by far my largest archery buck to date but with all the bucks we have seen this year I wouldn't say it will be my biggest..... so far this year we have seen way more bucks then we have seen does its about 1:1 ratio maybe actually a tad more bucks then does what a wonderfull area we are fortunate enough to hunt.... I thanks God for giving me the oportunity to hunt and for the land we hunt and I will never take for granted the great things he has allowed me to do and I look forward to passing the hunting tradition onto my kids..... thanks for all the comments hope you enjoy the story. Yeah I know I copied it from the bowhunting post but it was easier lol...anyhow hope you enjoy.

NiteRunner
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Great story! And again congrats! One of our neighbors called this evening and said they shot a nice 8-point on the property beside us, didn't even know anyone was hunting their. I'm hoping it's not the same one I have been seeing, although I think he might be a 10, he won't give me a good look to confirm it. The way he discribed him though sounds to be it. It sucks in a way...
struttinhoyt
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Congrats BTH..... thats picks us up a few spots on the score board......were in 9th or 10th from what i counted.... I have a spot thats ive set 2 or 3 times.....lots of big rubs and a set of BIG ol tracks thats runs in and out of.... and about 1/4 mile away is a road that runs by my house..... and the other day this one guy i know told my grandma about a Big BUCK that ran across the road.....this guy has killd his fair share of BIG deer and he said it is byfar the bigest deer he has ever seen.....so maybe I can get a shot at this guy before he gets ran over or shot off the side of the road..... WGumz
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Nice deer Bowtech. Congrats on a nice looking deer. I was kinda in awe at you putting that nice deer in a new looking SUV. I have been switched at work to a special assignment, which means Ihave weekends off, for the most part, but now I have to work all week and days to top that off. I have been finding time to get out to the woods, and am going tomorrow morning and all day to deer heaven. That is what I call my buddies hunting ground. Hopefully I can get the right stand this time and bag one. Next weekend is shotgun season for us, so I would like to bag an archery deer before then. We just need points. Some of the other teams are really racking them up. Good luck to all, and Bowtech, nice deer. Wade
sasksheds
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Here he is.I passed on a couple that were bigger during the season hoping a monster would show.Fri was the second last day of the season so I decided to pull the trigger on anything decent. The story is in the deer forums under 6 long weeks.6x6 [image][/image]

Gus
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Congrats Thayer, nice buck Here is how to get the points on the board INSTRUCTIONS FOR ENTERING A DEER To submit an entry a participant must include in the 05-06 RT Forum Deer Contest - ENTRY thread... - your screen name - if applicable, the number of tines that are longer than 1 inch (main beam counts), - not mandatory but if possible include your team name to help me out. - a photo of himself/herself with the deer Photo should show at least the entire front half of the deer or more - this is to avoid any possible accusations concerning people entering mounts. Also this pic has to be OF THE DEER, pics of only the skull plate will not be accepted - photo(s) that all scorable tines can be seen in. If 1 inch tine is questionable supply a photo with a measurement against the tine for verification. - a photo of legal tag This is a MUST, no deer will be entered without a pic of the tag. - FOR PARTICIPANTS IN STATES THAT DO NOT HAVE A TAGGING SYESTEM write the following information down on a piece of paper, your forum name, date deer was taken, state deer was taken in, print and sign your name - scan or take a pic of that info and supply it instead of the tag pic

WGumz
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Score! Way to go team, you guys and gals are doing a h*** of a job. Now if those slackers like WGumz would help out, we would be doing even better. I have just had a horrible season so far, been seeing deer, just not close enough to take a shot. Shotgun season is in next weekend, so hopefully the curse of the deer-bino will be broken for this year. LOL. Keep up the good work. Good luck in the woods. struttinhoyt
Re: Stealth Buck Bombers Score! aight now i can finish my story i had to get back to class so i tryed to sum it up....I got to the woods at 2 and had my stand put up and i was settled in by 230 so i set there for a little bit i had put out a scent bomb with a little bit of trails end 307..... i set there for 2 or 3 hours and i had sent a text message to one of my buddys and told him i wished a deer would pop its head out i sure would like to stick another one with my ol tekan 2 just as soon as i hit send i looked over my shoulder and i was like awww crap I seen about an 8 point popin his head on down the trail....he stoped broad side at 30 yds......i so thought it was 25 b/c he was slightly on a litle hill and i squezed off he jumped back about 10 yds and just stoped i was like aww crap......so i got out another arrow just in case he offerd again.....he just walked off......i thought ohh well......a little bit latar I look back over my shoulder to see him going back down basicly the same trail.....but didnt get another shot.......i didnt think to much about it i get down about 15 mins b4 dark so i could find my arrow.......i find it walk back to my tree and low and behold that same buck was chassin a doe down at the bottme of the draw that im hunting......so i packed up and headed to the truck.....(sunday) went back this evening (tuesday) the wind was blowing so hard....we had a cold front comethrew so i figured i would go set after school......get there at 330 at about 515 i look up and 3 does are walkin down at the bottem of the same draw....... they stayed about 45 or 50 yds away......I really have my mind set on a buck but will harvest another doe if one presents within 20 yds or so....... but yea im real proud of our team....... is sasksheds going to enter his muley??? if so thatll put us real close to that first place spot.......
