Guest danewguy
I am going to be hunting for the first time this year with a ML and was wondering if anyone has had a problem with their Encore in wet/rainy weather. I ask this because the breech isn't fully sealed like the omega's or other guns. Also what can be done to try to prevent any misfires because of moisture? Thanks again...you guys rock
str8shooter48
Re: probs with Encore in wet weather? Seems to me the breech of an Encore is pretty much as sealed as your going to get. Besides the 209 primers are weatherproof. If I had any worries about rainy weather hunting it would be at the muzzle end. Keep the muzzle pointing down or cover it with a piece of electrical tape. You should be fine. Good Luck

[/ QUOTE ] You will have no problems-- it is easily as sealed as the Omega, for several reasons.

tped
Re: probs with Encore in wet weather? I have never had a problem with mine. the breach is pretty well sealed and you are shooting aprimer system. Try to keep excessive water from running down the barrel and you should be fine. Alot more forgiving than the old flintlock in the rain
EIGHTPOINT
Re: probs with Encore in wet weather? I also have the Encore 209 x 50 and have never had a problem with foul weather hunting. Two things I would add to the previous posts are 1. don't bring your gun in and out of a warm enviroment, this will cause condensation. I always leave my gun in my garage ( unheated garage ) cased & locked. 2. Always wipe down your gun after you've been out in wet conditions or from condensation to avoid surface rust spots. The Encore's will not let you down. You have a good gun there.
too_pointer
Re: probs with Encore in wet weather? I'm a little late in replying !! If it might be raining or high humidity, I slip a black balloon over my Encore barrel.Everyone is correct on shotgun primers being fine in bad weather. I reloaded for years for duck hunting, hunting in the most miserable weather you could ask for with no problems. The Encore has great protection. Eightpoint brought up some great advice, keep your muzzleblaster at the same temp. after loading the best you can. too_pointer
