gitcha_some
Re: Shot Size 2's are usually the best....for some reason i get a better pattern with 2 3/4 bb's than any othr load that i have tried
Covehnter
Re: Shot Size Depends on where i'm at. . . the coves and backwaters i'll be using #2's but when i hit the big lake in bama i often switch to BB's for the added kinetic energy at longer distances, cause those birds have seen it all. Bob LeBlanc
Re: Shot Size Nope...not in steel!! #3 is the smallest I'll go for ducks. We used to use #5 or #6, when lead was legal, early in the year...but, alas, them days are gone now Bob
huntn4bucks
Re: Shot Size I primarily shoot #4s; however, most of the guys I hunt with shoot #2s. I like to call them in close and shoot'em in the beak.
dogdoc
Re: Shot Size i'm usually hunting over decoys on small bodies of waters (ponds)--so i'm usually using #4's but early season I love using #5's when they are coming in really close---i don't know if i really see a huge difference though between the 4's and 5's season is close todd
Missed160
Re: Shot Size I use #4's.. I try to pick only good shots, I think I lose fewer ducks then some friends who shot bb's..
Shaun_300
Re: Shot Size I use 2 3/4" #4's out of my 870 Wingmaster 12ga.

JimPic
Re: Shot Size If I'm hunting with my O/U I use #4's--with the pump it's #2's.
Guest gfourhunter
Re: Shot Size i use 3 1/2 BB on both ducks and geese. saves on buying both and also when hunting ducks and geese at the same time. my gun patternes best with BB. waterfowler_gal
Re: Shot Size The time of the year we see more teal and woodies that is why I use 4/5. I will use the heavier stuff once the big fat mallards come to play.. I am really patient on my shots and like to call them in close--it's the best part of waterfowling!!! ... Minnesota has a new regulations for bags: 4 ducks-1 being a hen. I guess as long as you shoot to kill and are accurate that is all that matters Good luck everyone! Bow Hunter Derek
Re: Shot Size Ducks #4 3" steel & hevi shot early. #2 3 1/2" steel & #4 3" hevi shot late. Geese #2 3" hevi shot all year. Used some #2 3" hevi steel in early season this year and was impressed with it.
fisherguy
Re: Shot Size In the good ol lead days i had '#5, but now with steel it is mainly #2 for me, i use 4 occasionally.
Guest Iambenelliguy
Re: Shot Size all depends on what type of shells you shoot. Hevi-shot, winchester, ect.. Faststeel dueces are my choice.
Guest Xen
Re: Shot Size well, i had some 4's, 3's, and 1's... i use an o/u and had either a 3 or 4 in the first shot and 1's in the second. found that i would hit a duck and have it keep flying, but when i hit it with the second shot, it would fold right up. i don't plan on buying anything other than 1's from now on, for duck or geese. hoosierhunter
Re: Shot Size I'm a big fan of the hevi-shot but it's hard on the pocket book if you like to shoot as much as I do..I was fortunate enough to work at a local store last year and bought a bunch of hevi shot for 6 bucks a book!
