JimT
As some of you know, today was the state wide opener here in Maine. It was very windy and poured hard starting around 2:00, so I knew this afternoon was over before it started. Around 4:45 I noticed the sun was coming out, so I decided to still hunt to a little clearing on a tote trail to an oak that has been getting hit pretty good by the deer. I tell the wife I am going there and head out. With about 30 minutes of good day light left I hear someone whistle. Could not believe it cause they were coming at me. Then I hear some kids. MY KIDS! My wife took them out there to see if any deer where around when she knew I was hunting there. Guys and girls I am dumbfounded. It takes alot to get me mad, and I was fuming!! Now she is mad at me because I am mad at her. I asked her what she was thinking in not such a nice way, and her response was, "Well the atv does not bother the deer, how could we?" I still cannot believe she walked out there while I was hunting...Am I wrong to be more than irritated?

Illinoisbowhunter
Re: Unreal Gee, not sure what to say Jim lol I would be kind of irritated as well, I would just explain to her that at that time deer where most likely to show up until they came walking in. Guess its better then another hunter trespassing or interrupting you

mainebuck
Re: Unreal better watch that language beagleboy. I already saw one warning from a moderator. Jim, that's a bummer man. I didn't expect it to clear off as early as it did this afternoon and wondered if you made it out. I think she learned her lesson. won't have to worry about her doing that again. hopefully the tension won't be high at your house for too long. not a good thing during hunting season. preacherman
Re: Unreal had that happen a couple of years ago...........was sitting in a shooting house about 3 years ago and had just gotten there when my wife walked through the food plot to the shooting house to tell me that someone was at the house looking for me! To say the least, I was mad! Went home for just a moment and briefly spoke to them, felt like the hunt was over but I wanted to go back for just a few minutes. Got back in the shooting house and about 15 minutes later two does came out and I was able to harvest one!
Nut
Re: Unreal Yes I would be irritated. However I always remind myself that I love my wife more than any one day of hunting and talk in a caallllmmmm voice about what happened . ladydiehard
Re: Unreal Well...my husband has messed up several hunts for me and yes, its irritating. He gets impatient far quicker than I and next thing you know, hes on the move. Sometimes this is a good thing cause he has chased deer my way. But there are other times... He also gets mad if I don't answer him on the radio right away. When I'm watching deer, I don't always answer right away, if at all. One time I got so aggravated with his persistent yelling that I just turned the radio off. Even with an ear bud, its annoying when concentrating on deer approaching. Bottom line is...we all do things that annoy each other. Husband, wife, children, fellow hunters, even neighbors that decide to run the chainsaw during deer season!!!!!!!!!!! URRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! Its part of life and people are more important than deer. So I try to forgive my husband quickly.

HarvDog
Re: Unreal UGH! That's annoying...kinda funny...but definitely irritating! Now would be a perfect time to educate her and the kids.
colescott1
Re: Unreal Probably easier to "teach a lesson" to the kids... wait till they are hanging out with their friends, and then pull the stereotypical "embarrassing parent" moment. Then tell them when you hunt, they leave you alone. When they are doing their thing, you'll leave them alone. :-)

Tominator
Re: Unreal LMAO I don't think I'd get that steamed Jim, unless that was the last day of the season, or if it was in the middle of the rut. I remember a few years back of trying to put the stalk on a decent 8 pointer that was headed right for my field. I was up on my garage roof practicing, my daughter was up there with me. I told her I was going down to try for it and she was going to watch. 1/2 way through the stalk, Katie starts belting out the Star Spangled Banner. Needless to say, that buck didn't hang around, and I never did see him.
