TexasDeerHunter
I live in an area of Texas with a really high deer population. From my house to town is about 11 miles and just about every morning all year long there is a new fatality. Yep, someone takes out a deer with their car. All the anti-hunters talk about how barbaric it is to hunt and how gruesome our sport is. I will tell you my idea of gruesome: a deer that has been hit by a vehicle laying on the side of the road with it's guts scattered all over and the buzzards eating away. Compare that to a hunter humanely harvesting a deer , eating the venison, tanning the hide, mounting the antlers, and sharing the story of the hunt with others. That is the way deer should be taken and as Ted would say " the spirit of the deer lives on, long live the beast ". How can any person in their right mind come down on hunters and completely ignore the fact that there are other factors that claim the lives of animals that are far more gruesome than what we all do. At least with hunting we are utilizing the meat and honoring the animal and the hunting heritage. Anti's just don't get it.
Bruce Schmeck
Re: Tell me what is worse? That's because they make statements that are based solely on their emotions and view animals as having human attributes. I don't think you can understand how they think and I don't try to. Master_Chief
Re: Tell me what is worse? I agree with you. What they don't realize too is that if we didn't harvest the deer there wold be even more and some of those would die from disease as well. HarvDog
Re: Tell me what is worse? They honestly just don't understand. They are so blinded by their "don't kill anything" mentality.
Tominator
Re: Tell me what is worse? I always say that to my classes. "Could you imagine what would happen if nobody was allowed to kill deer?" We'd have to drive around in armored cars for crying out loud. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Tell me what is worse? Good point. No hunting = an overpopulation of deer and many, many more deer/car accidents. Let a few of the anti's Volvos' and Lexus' get totaled and they might change their mind! Wait a minute, I just had an epiphany! Of course the anti's would want the deer herd reduced if the overpopulation was impacting them directly. But they'd want some type of government program (since they're basically socialists) to do it. Why? (besides being socialists) Because they don't want to see other people like you and me enjoying ourselves while hunting! They want to deny the fact that mankind, including themselves, are predators by nature and the instinct to hunt and kill game is still strong in the human race. beagleboy
Re: Tell me what is worse? It's always funny to see the anti's when they go home to their homes just outside the city with beautiful manicured lawns and fancy bushes and exotic plants that adorn the front of the house and a deer eating everything in sight. Then they are a nuisance.
WISHUNTER
Re: Tell me what is worse? The anti's hate it when there yard is all eatin up by the deer.... And they want the deer taken care of then, BUT you can hunt them so let's trap them and move them and we'll start given them birth control so they say. That's way to funny.. buckee
Re: Tell me what is worse? I'll tell ya what's more gruesome than a deer that has been hit by a vehicle laying on the side of the road with it's guts scattered all over and the buzzards eating away ...It's the person in the vehicle, slumped over the wheel, lifeless, because they swerved to miss a deer on the road and went off the road, and hit a tree. I'll tell ya what's more gruesome, It's thousands of deer walking around suffering and dropping dead due to diseases infesting an over-populated deer herd or thousands of deer starving to death in a hard winter because there's not enough eats to support an over-populated herd. And what's even more disgusting is that all these thousands of dieing and dead deer will never be utilized as a food source. Heck, they won't even be utilized for fertilizer, but will just lay there and rot and be eaten by scavengers, who in turn, will also catch diseases and die off after passing it on to some other poor critter. NOT I agree that giving the animals human attributes has really messed up many people and how they view the real world. As great an accomplishment making Bambi was for that time, I think that movie alone did alot of damage to youth and their perception of the real world. MossySNPR
Re: Tell me what is worse? I guess its simple: They react only to hunters because hunters are the only thing they THINK they can do ANYTHING about. They can't do anything about a predator killing an animal for food, they can't say anything about a farmer hitting a cow over the head with a sledgehammer or shooting it with an air cartridge, they can only pick on the "Men and Women who lure innocents in and snuff it out". Thats my opinion.

stevebeilgard
Re: Tell me what is worse? pay closer attention, mossy. the antis don't want you fishing, having leather seats or couches, or anything that has to do with a dead animal. they are just nuts, that's all
JJL
Re: Tell me what is worse? So back to the original question....................... WHAT IS WORSE????????????????? It sounds like you either have too many deer............ or TOO many cars...............
