birddog
Well guys and gals, MN's waterfowl opener is tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. (don't ask about the time, it used to be noon)...anywho, Only 10 hours and 47 minutes until the shooting begins! My little brother and I have our spot picked out, on some state land...we can access it by private land, so we are meeting at 6:00 a.m.....hopefully we can get everything set for a great shoot! Heck, when it was the noon start, we met at 5:00 a.m....so tomorrow is a great relief! Hopefully I'll have pics to post tomorrow! Anyone else heading out in MN tomorrow?? birddog
Re: Opener tomorrow: Well all, thanks for the well wishes: It was a BEAUTIFUL morning: We arrived at 6:30, waited until 8:00; set the dekes and got ready for the 9:00 opener:...it was pretty slow, but we managed a limit and I am posting pics before 1:00! Ducks are cleaned and packaged up..just waiting for someone who wants them Ended up with 4 woodies, 1 scaup, 1 widgeon, and 2 teal....should've had some mallards but the ol' gun barrel must not have been warmed up enough 81 degrees....just aint duck weather! And Sureshot....be carefull with the offers....have gun, will travel And another.....Man, it is awesome...now it's time for a nap before hitting the bowstand tonight! birddog
Re: Opener tomorrow: Of course I eat them....I just try to give away as many as I can because Duck is not my favorite wild game: And here we are only allowed 4 ducks a day, with only 8 in possession, even in the freezer.....so in order to hunt you can only have your possession limit: I package them up, and have some people who just wait for their ducks each fall! OFf to the blind right now!

waterfowler_gal
Re: Opener tomorrow: Birddog what area did you hunt in? I hunted Sat/Sun down past Belle Plaine/New Prague. We got our limits too. It was a great opener for myself and our crew-so much movement. Sunday was a lot slower but still pretty decent. It was great to get out there. birddog
Re: Opener tomorrow: Waterfowl gal= I hunted around Fergus Falls: Ottertail County...There really weren't many birds around: We just got lucky with our set up. I had a buddy who has a sweet set up on private land that took 8 on sat. (limit) but then had 6 guys on sunday and they only took 4 between the 6 of them: The divers showed a up a little more on Sunday. They are usually our bread and butter ducks but they were a mile high and wouldn't decoy at all. Glad to hear your hunt went well!
