Cumberland County lost a good Deputy yesterday.

This guy was a great Deputy and an even better person. I had the opportunity to work with him for a few months earlier this year when he was assigned to the college I work security for. I'm not sure why this is affecting me the way it is, I just know that I am honored to have known him for such a short period.

wonder if charges will be brought against those who were fighting?? they set in motion a chain of events that led to this officers death. should they be charged??

Slugo I am sorry for your loss because I know how it feels to lose friends and comrades but I must answer browning_gold_12's question if you don't mind.

First, yes the two fighting should be charged for the fighting but not for that cops death. If I read correctly, he was going 80mph and was not wearing his seatbelt. That's not their fault now is it confused.gif. [ QUOTE ]

The Highway Patrol estimates he was driving more than 80 mph when the wreck happened. Matthews was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.

what a tragedy---I have worked in law enforcement and I have to admit our Peace Officers are very unappreciated. It doesn't matter what agency you work for but Peace Officers are one big family--a very close group of guys.

prayers to his family and friends
