tped
Was in a gun shop on Saturday and they had a Winchester model 70 Super Grade with Leupold VariX-II on the rack chambered in 30-338. Douglas premium barrel. What a beauty. Asking was $900. Anyone know of availabliity of ammo or would this strictly be a handload adventure. Any thoughts on the gun and price? Strut10
Re: 30-338 I don't believe there's anybody that offers a factory loading for the .30-.338. I think it's always been a wildcat cartridge that's gotta be handloaded. External numbers (velocity and energy) on the round should be sub-.300 Winchester Mag..................probably on the order of the .308 Norma Mag. I can't say much about the price. Sounds like a customized piece. I guess a non-factory gun is worth what a guy's willing to pay for it. IMHO it sounds a little steep.
