Horrible First Weekend.

My first day was abissmal. Saturday I took my stand in the morning and saw nothing. - Since I had to help a friend move in the afternoon, I was a little sweaty but sprayed myself off with carbon spray and wiped my whole body down. I hoped it would be adequate for the evening hunt. Wow was i wrong.

It apparently wasn't even close, cause I got busted not once, but six different times. The first was while walking in and was more attributed towards crossing paths with two deer than my odoriforous maximus. But I had deer that were upwind that were busting me.

After that, it was huffing and puffing and man...it was bad. My last encounter was a doe that snuck up behind me about 20 yards. She started blowing, then I matched her and we went back and forth for about 10 minutes until she finally took off to the end of the field.

Sunday was better and I did see a 6 pointer around 9:30am. He hung a left about 70 yards off, but he didn't see me or smell me, which was a nice change of pace.

I guess I'm glad I saw some activity. It shot up to about 80 degrees with 85-95 % humidity. I'll keep telling myself it wasn't a waste of time.

Re: Horrible First Weekend.

I know what you mean. It was in the 90's here yesterday afternoon. And like a glutton for punishment, I ventured out in it. Never sweated so much in my life. I bet I left 10 pounds on the ground under my treestand..grin.gif

If it weren't for Sunday morning(saw 4), I would have been skunked this weekend.

Oh, well, could be worse. It could still be September...grin.gif
