Doe down in Jersey

I took a doe Friday night. The rocket steelhead really tore her up. I'm probqably going to hear about it(shot angle)but here how it happened. I got into the stand about 4:30 and didn't even have time to cool down when 1 doe comes by at 40 yds, no shot. 5 minutes later another doe comes in behind me downwind, thank god for scentlok! She circles around in front of me and stopped at the mineral bed I had made. She was quartering to me 16yds and stopped. If she stayed on her present course she would have gone past and I would have had no shot, so, I'm watching her eat minerals and I started thinking about one of Michael Waddells hunts in Texas where he had the same shot with a buck. So when she put her head down I drew and put the pin between her neck and shoulder blade and squeezed the release. The arrow hit right where I wanted it to and she piled up 30yds away. When I gutted her, I saw the rocket steelhead had sliced through the heart, right lung and part of the feedbag. She was full of acorns. Oh yea, complete passthrough.... What a hunt!

Re: Doe down in Jersey

Ys it is true....Earn a Buck! EAB is good in a way because it allows the bucks to get bigger, if you don't shoot a doe you are not eligible to shoot a buck, and it sucks in a way cause the bucks are easy to pattern in the early season. ex. 2 weeks ago I had a nice 11 pt standing broadside in front of me in the same mineral bed but I couldn't because I didn't have my doe at that time...It happens that way every year....Oh Well.
