No deer but.............

Well guys I got out Saturday at about 8am when the rain stopped and got up in my tree. Here came the rain again. Ended up sitting in the rain for 3 hours. That afternoon I went over to Blue River and did a little hunting. Got set up about 2 p.m. Around 5:30 I saw a flock of Turkeys coming my way. They were about 50 yards when I spotted them. I was sitting there thinking one of these suckers gives me a shot and it will be going home with me. They get to 30 yards. Go to draw and a hen sees me so all 8 of the hens run behind a tree about 50 yards from me and started calling the yearling to them. I knew it was either a yearling or nothing so I found an opening that I guessed was 45 yards. When the yearling went behind the tree I drew and when it stepped in the opening it stopped and stuck its head straight up in the air. I put my 40 yard pin on it's head and drilled it. All the hens surrounded seeing what was going on and finally after about 10 minutes I had to get down and run them off. Anyway got back in the tree but did not see anything else the rest of the afternoon. I definately picked up alot of confidence on that shot. I shot almost everyday for months before season and I have never felt so comfortable taking a shot at anything before. It was like 2nd nature and my body took over and I was along for the ride. Oh by the way J.B. I thought about you while I was out there sitting in the tree and the 30mph winds gusting.

Here is a pic of the head shot I made WARNING: This is not for the weak at stomach. It is graphic so if you can't handle it don't click the link.

That is the first arrow I have ever let fly at any animal. That Summit ViperX5 I just can't praise enough. I sat in that thing 6 hours and was comfortable the whole time.
