Scored on some New Land.....

I never get sick of working hard to gain permission to hunt new property.....it's alot of work, but equally rewarding...

While spending some time viewing satellite maps lately, I found an area that looked promissing....so i found out who the landowner and leasers were, and gave them a call..........and once again, they said sure... smile.gif

This place is a bowhunters dream........oak ridges and draws, that sprawl down into a river bottom with areas of cottonwoods, and others with scrub brush.....

Spent a several hours doing a quick scout my new hunting spot.......not much for fresh deer sign, as they just pulled the cattle out for the year....but there is some....and alot of old sign like the rubs I'll post for you.........it's a great late season spot........can't wait to check it out some more......

That is beautiful land. Did you have to lease it?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope.....a curtious call and heartfelt hand shake, still get you a long ways up here..........but times are a changing..........leasing is slowly becoming the way of the future here as well.....

That's why I try to secure permission to as much land as I can...even if I don't hunt areas certain years...I still have built that relationship with the landowner.......it pays huge dividends..... smile.gif

Is that whitetail country your hunting in the pics? If not whitetails then what holds in that woods??

[/ QUOTE ]

It is mostly whitetail country, but there is a couple "bowls' that do hold a handful of Mulies also.........

I know ND holds some of the biggest bucks

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know where you are getting that info......there is some bucks out are taken every year that will possibly go in the 150 range......and every once in a while you will see a 160 or every once in a great while you will see somebody lucky enough to poke a 170 class..............but we are no where near the quantity and quality of bucks like the canadian provinces, or Iowa, Illinois, Kansas...etc...

Very few guys practice QDM, but I try on the lands I hunt.......I don't know if I've been having any affect or not......
