texastrophies
Hendrick Motorsports to pay $350K in back overtime Oct. 1, 2005 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports CONCORD, N.C. -- Hendrick Motorsports will pay more than $350,000 in back overtime wages to employees after an investigation found the racing company violated federal labor laws. The company, which designs, builds and races cars in NASCAR, acknowledged it failed to pay 214 salaried production workers $351,783 in overtime between July 2003 and July 2005. The U.S. Labor Department said it determined Hendrick violated the Fair Labor Standards Act. "We certainly wanted to make sure our employees received any compensation to which they were entitled, so we were glad to make the appropriate payments," Hendrick spokesman Jesse Essex told the Associated Press on Saturday in an e-mail. "We've updated our internal policies and do not anticipate any ongoing issues." AP NEWS The Associated Press News Service

MUDRUNNER
Re: Hendrick Motorsports Caught off the track What is the law on that situation?I always thought salary was a set wage that didn't require overtime pay.I have a feeling I'll be switched to salary next year. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Hendrick Motorsports Caught off the track I am salary and it all depends on your classification within the organization. I do get overtime. I had a job at a truck dealership and that was hourly and they weren't entitled to pay any overtime but the office help which was hourly did get it, hard to say what's up, every position is different. Seems in this case some Hendrick employees found out the law and as a result they are getting back pay. Drop in the bucket for that organization, all they have to do is take the money they got from cheating and winning races and use that to pay the back overtime!! Couldn't resist that one!! LOL!! Chrud
Re: Hendrick Motorsports Caught off the track Most salaried employees still get overtime. I'd get into details, but I didn't pay attention that well in payroll class.
