Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: dog names? Dogs I've had in the past: mongrel named Willie because he had blue eyes black lab named Rufus black lab named Ajax blind mongrel named Bumper BTW - Willie was a better upland retriever than both labs combined. He would never quit on a dead or crippled bird and when he came back, the only part of the bird in his mouth was the head.
Guest LDB
Re: dog names? My brother named his dog Venitor which is latin for "male hunter", but now he just calls him Tor for short (which is just "male"). My English Setter, Rosy, was named by the guy who gave her to me. She was originally going to be the pick of the litter for field trial competitions (apparently Rosy's grandfather is a former world champion or something like that). However, after a few months, he decided she had some faults that would prevent her from getting perfect marks. He wanted Rosy to be happy and get to do a lot of hunting, so he sent her out to me. His wife, Rosalind, was a bit upset since the dog was named after her.
Guest Xen
Re: dog names? my friend named his black lab Tank. it was kind of funny when he was a little pup, now that he's 110 lbs, it just seems natural.

Covehnter
Re: dog names? It is for training purposes if you plan on working your dog. Since you often send the dog on his or her name it is easier for them to understand and respond to if it is only one syllable. Also less to be confused with other commands.
