c_lou
I went out last night and got all set up. After I got settled in I did a 3 grunt, 30 second rattle, 3 grunt sequence. Does this sound about right for times and numbers? I repeated this about every 45 minutes or so. This is the first time I have really tried grunting and rattling together. RyanH
Re: Question on Rattling & Grunting Well Sounds about right! When i rattled that buck in that i shot the other night! I did this: 2 grunts about 15 sec rattle and then 1 grunt! I put them down! About 15 min later! Boom there is a buck and then boom there goes the buck to the grounD! 1st one i ever rattled in! c_lou
Re: Question on Rattling & Grunting The rattling part is what I am really unsure about. I don't know how long I should be doing it. I would say my sequence last night was about 15 to 20 seconds.
Tominator
Re: Question on Rattling & Grunting you know what? i don't let my watch dictate when i rattle or grunt. if i feel like doing it, i will. i have yet to see a deer with a wrist watch that tells them they should grunt or fight now, because they haven't grunted or clicked antlers for 10 minutes and it's time to do just that. lol. just go have fun bud. IMHO it's tough to blind rattle and grunt too much.

buckbuster11
Re: Question on Rattling & Grunting Sounds about right. You really dont have to have an exact science with it. I've seen fights last for 10 seconds and others that go for 5 minutes plus. I usually rattle for about 30 seconds to a minute, wait a few minutes and then do it again. Then I'll sit and wait a while. I'll grunt a few times before and after the sequence but I do most of the grunting while I'm rattling.
Guest bigbuckmiddaugh
Re: Question on Rattling & Grunting i rattle and quit when ever that dam tine hits my hand, lol I agree with couple people. There is no given time when to quit. Just don't let the deer see ya rattling. I rattle until i feel content, lol. When i don't see nothing, i play yankee doodle on the grunter! Don't laugh, i called in one HUGE buck and couple others playing that song. Urrrp, urp urp yankee doodle went to town riding on a pony,......you know the rest from there. When your not seeing anything......do whatever you feel content with! Heck, i play jingle bells once in a while too, lol (no joke either) good luck
Guest deadeye270
Re: Question on Rattling & Grunting 30sec is about right for prerut, when peak rut gets here you can extend the sequences to 90sec or so.
