c_lou
We have had trouble with the neighbors 2 dogs chasing deer during the late summer and all fall. Our neighbor on the other side went and talked with the owner of the dogs and he said "It would be the last time those dogs chased deer." So we left it at that. However over the weekend the dogs were seen again. Now I am in favor of the Shoot, Shovel, Shut Up policy. But there was just a case where a guy got jail time for doing just that. My question is If we contact the Police or Game Warden, do they usually do anything?
dogdoc
Re: Dog Question i contacted the game warden about a similiar problem---he told me there was nothing he could do to contact the sheriff. contacted the Sheriff's dep't---they told me there is no leash law in the area and nothing they could do. he then told me if it was his land he would shoot them--but just don't get caught. I have had several hunts ruined by the neighbors coon dog----i have contacted him several times but he doesn't care. a very frustrating situation. I just don't have it in me to shoot the dog--he is actually a very sweet dog. I have popped him with a BB gun a few times which runs him off but he is always back. tough situation and also a very common problem. If you shoot the dog----just make sure you don't get caught---and hide the body really good or at least drag it off your property. todd
hoyt19
Re: Dog Question Im looking at this problem from two sides right now. 1st off I can totally understand why you would be mad these poochs were messing up ypur hunts, and your right that your neighbor should contorl his animals. On the other hand outside of deer hunting I train, breed and own German Shorthaired Pointers. And there has been a cple occasions where they have been a little rangy when out pheasant hunting on my farm and messed up my neighbors hunt. But I also know he wouldnt shoot my dogs( he owns a couple of my pups). But if someone was to Shoot shovle and shut up about one of my dogs, Id have his head mounted on my wall nexted to my deer heads. Try using a humain trap to catch them then take them to the pound, shooting the is wrong though.
