Re: Scope trouble

Since you said the gun shop bore sighted it, that would be my finger pointing place. I never let the gun hacks in a shop do anything other than sell me a gun.

I would recenter the adjustments in the scope. This is easy to do with a gun vise or a set of sandbags, solid rest, etc. Look through the scope and watch the reticle move as the elevation knob is turned. Once it is maxed out, go the opposite way until it is maxed out. Now go back 1/2 way. Repeat this procedure for windage.

Remove the scope from its monts and re-install them. Be sure the rings are aligned properly. I have a How-To write up on scope mounting.

Re: Scope trouble

My uncle had a simmons (not sure which model) I believe it was 6-18X with adjustable objective...anyways, he had the exact problem. Sent the scope back, they sent him another...this time he had the height ok...but couldn't get the wind adjustment to move any closer than 11" left.

He asked me and I really wasn't sure...I believed it was the scope (meaning not well made) and ordered him a new Nikon Buckmasters. Put it on and bingo...sighted in perfectly!

BTW, this was on a Howa .223...very little recoil.
