slugshooter
I must say, the Republicans in Congress have really been throwing me for a loop lately, first, it seems like the only people who don't like Bush's newest Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, are the Republican members of Congress, I mean, that one almost has me dumbfounded, heck, Democratic leader Harry Reid recommended her to Bush for pete's sake, then, in a vote taken last night at almost 9 O'clock that passed 90-9 in the Senate, they approved an amendment(S.Amend. 1977) to outline how prisoners are to be treated in a time of war, the amendment was sponsored by John McCain, who, IMO, is the only person in the Senate who has the right to comment on how POW's should be treated, Senators Allard (R-CO) Bond (R-MO) Coburn (R-OK) Cochran (R-MS) Cornyn (R-TX) Inhofe (R-OK) Roberts (R-KS) Sessions (R-AL) Stevens (R-AK), all advocate torture apparently.............BUT, just when I thought there was some ounce of hope left in the world, the Senate took a vote on an amendment (S.Amend. 1937) that would have taken into account population changes and inflation for future funding for health care for former members of the armed forces, but it was defeated by a tally of 48-51. 50 of those Nay votes were from Republicans.
