jnrbronc
Re: Peein in treestand A week ago there was a thread about this on another forum I follow. Most said let'r rip. Last Friday, I climbed into a tree stand at 9:30 am and at 1 pm I let it fly. It hit a leaning tree downwind of my stand about 8 foot off the ground. I was set up on edge of a timber/crp grass. The wind blew from the timber out across the crp. I figured any deer moving would be sneaking down the trail inside the timber that parralled the grass. At 2 pm, I hear something behind me and turn to see antlers. The small buck came from directly down wind, circled the base of my tree and nosed the tree I had wetted down. I had many chances to arrow him, but he was a 1.5 year old 4X2 (freak rack). Now a bigger buck might not have reacted the same to the scent, but then again I don't feel a mature buck would have been cruising around in open grass at 2 pm (at least not until the rut really gets going). Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Peein in treestand if you don't want to pee on the ground...try this....take an empty 2 liter and cut the bottom out and attach it to your tree...the from the small part where the cap goes attach a plactic tube and run it down to the ground and dig a hole next to the tree and bury the end of the tube so your pee goes into the ground

Start with the funnel into 1" PVC pipe that is secured to the tree all the way down. Ends up enter the ground into a "5 gallon bucket sized hole", filled with gravel and covered with a few inches of earth. I had thought about the plastic tube thing but figured it would freeze easily or dry rot.
brownie65
Re: Peein in treestand I know the guy that invented the spare bladder. He gave me several boxes of them. I gave them to another friend of mine. I am with the majority if I have to go I just go. I used to carry a bottle & pee in it but I stopped doing that several years ago. I don't think it has ever spooked a deer. I have had them come in right after & while peeing.
HarvDog
Re: Peein in treestand [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I peed on a doe that bedded under me one time, that was funny, should have put it on video. she didnt really take off either! [/ QUOTE ] That's hilarious!!! [ QUOTE ] My gun stand is no problem. Its big enough for two and has camo burlap all around. My bow stands are not so. They are small, no camo, just some nearby trees for cover. My property is landlocked so hunting near a property line is very easy to do. In fact, both my bow stands are near not one but two adjoining property lines. I have a neighbor to my right and a neighbor to my left at distances of 100 and 150 yards. Both are bowhunters and use binoculars. I can only imagine what might happen if they happened to be using those binoculars while I decided to pee from my bow stand..... [/ QUOTE ] I really don't much care. If I need to go, I'm goin'...not too concerned who's watchin'. [/ QUOTE ] Guess you are unpredictable in the grocery store and shopping malls then, hmmmm???? [/ QUOTE ] I don't get it...what are you saying? That I might pee just anywhere?
slugshooter
Re: Peein in treestand Don't mean to keep this subject up and running, I thought I would add an experience I just had with this, on opening day last saturday, I let er rip against the smaller tree next to the one I was in, about an hour or so later I had a spike come in, stand right under me in my stand, walked right past the tree that had my "water" on it, didn't even notice, never did get a good shot at him though, he was spooked by all the nuts falling out of the trees to pay attention I guess. Of course, he didn't seem to care that I had a wickster nearby with Tinks trophy buck lure on it either, walked right past that also, sometimes I wonder if all these scents on the market really work, I'll believe it when I see a good sized buck come in and try to make love with my scent wicks. Smitteken
Re: Peein in treestand I experimented the other day when I was coming out of the woods. There was a scrape about 100 yard from where my stand is on the edge of a field. So I went ahead and renewed it with my brand. I went back 3 days later to check it out and nothing had touched it since. It seems most people are only having small bucks come to the scent. Its because they are retarded. I'd bet my truck that an intelligent mature buck in my area would never make a mistake like that.

SaskMan
Re: Peein in treestand I'll chime in again. I'll NEVER go in a bottle and I'll DEFINATELY go in scrapes many times more.
Thayer
Re: Peein in treestand If the lady hunters would do us all a favor and do your thing while you are near your ovulating cycle and let us know if it spooks the deer or draws them in...my wife thinks I am nuts...I think the hormones will work as an attractant...ps.if any of you are pregnant, that would be cool to see what happens also. Uhh...maybe we should just get our wives to fill a bottle, don't want to intrude on your privacy, ladies. Sorry!

Although I must say, I'm impressed. With all the interest in the subject, I wonder how some camo "Depends" would go over! I'm on the way to the patent office.
