I believe it actually covers up scent. I have never had a deer show alarm around me the last 4 years while I have been doing this. I do play the wind, and I do take scent precations, but I dont think they recognize this smell as human. This past monday I had a doe step overtop the flashlight that I left at the base of the tree. I had been chewing all morning and spitting right beside it she smelled the spit walked out 5 more yds and took a muzzy through the lungs. Yes I know how bad it is and have cut down alot since my military times but ya know. If it stops down pouring here I can finally get out and hunt!! One night back when I used to party alot we got a friend of ours to drink a half cup of his copenhagen spit. $5 a piece from us guys. Well that was $5 I lost but a memory I will never forget.
