Norm Sauceman
News through the BADF came in over night. There is an Illinois hunter requesting a helper for a hunt. I do not think there is any equipment issues, he is just requesting a helper. He writes: Would it be possible to advertise for a hunting helper for me, a disabled hunter, for an archery hunt. The archery hunt takes place in Giant City State Park in Illinois from Wednesday, November 2nd through Sunday, November 6th. Giant City is just outside Carbondale, Illinois in Shawnee National Forest. The helper will also be allowed to harvest a deer from a ground blind. Last year I harvested a nice doe that dressed out at about 130 pounds and a friend of mine took a 14 point buck at another Handicapped Archery hunt about two miles from where this hunt takes place, but in the same forest area. This area is known for its large bucks. This area is only hunted once per year and it is during this particular hunt. If they would be willing to drive my van from Fairview Heights, Illinois down to Giant City, I will drive my motor home and we can stay in the camp ground. We need to be there as early as possible on Tuesday evening. I will be paying for most of the expenses, except for tags, license, and etc. Of course if they wish to bring food along, that also will be welcomed. They may contact me at [email protected] Although this was a message that came to me through Buckmasters, we all need to help where we can. I am a friends with David Sullivan as we both strive to help folks who are in need of help. Our organizations work together to make sure all needs are met.
