How far?

Re: How far?

That depeends on the ability of the shooter. You should be able to connect fairly reliably out to 125 yards if you are up to that part. Beyond that, the distance is critical, that thing starts to drop like a rock. Wind deflection also gets to be a big factor past 125 yards.

Re: How far?

Thanks everyone, I kinda had the 100 yard mark in the back of my mind and you all just comfirmed it. I was wondering how quick the bullet wound start 'dropping like a rock'. I think I'll set a 100 yard limit for myself. Thanks, again.

Re: How far?

I am curious of the members sayingn they shoot 150 to 200 yards, what their powder charge/bullet combo is. I can see 150 gr charges of Pyrodex, BP, or T7 and lighter charges of smokeless powder but to shoot a 300 gr bullet with 100 gr charge of stinky powder is asking a lot to use past 150 yards.

As far as I'm concerned, it very closely follows what you can do with 300 gr. reloads in a .45-70.

The best frontloaders are good for about half the range of what you can do with the flatter centerfires.

I shoot out to 150 yards with my black diamond AJ. I use 120 grains loose pyrodex powder, with a 240 grain tc xtp mag.
