Re: Whats for Dinner in Camp

I usually like some good old dutch oven potatoes, dutch oven cobbler, and some deer steak. I take some nice cuts of deer steak and tenderize them with my Jaccard tenderizer. Take coarse black pepper, kosher salt, garlic powder , a dash of paprika , and a dash of chili powder mix well and then season steaks. Place in a casserole dish and coat with olive oil and some plum vineager or apple cider vineager. Let them sit overnight in the frig. Next day throw them on the grill, be sure not to over cook. They turn out pretty darn good.

I want to go hunting with you guys. We're usually so tired that all we make is Bacon/eggs for breakfast. Cold samiches for lunch (and a nap). And chicken noodle soup for dinner. Unless we have to process a deer then we just snack and go to bed when we finish. Then wake up and start all over.

Opening night we deep fry about 4 turkeys and everyones squirrel and rabbit from that season. We usually eat the turkey that night and put the small game in a roaster for the next day. The second night we usually have heart and tenderloins, chili is always in there some time too.

Re: Whats for Dinner in Camp

We go up for a week at a time when hunting, so we take a week's worth of meals. We normally take Chili, Corn Soup, Steak, Chicken, Hamburger, Pork, and Venison. We normally have potatoes, peas, corn, green beans, bake beans, salad, etc. as our side dishes. We also bring lots of snacks; about 4 kinds of chips, beef/deer jerky, chocolate, oven pizzas, etc. What we don't eat while up there comes home with us and we finish it off at home. Hunting is our getaway from home so we go all out about it. Sometimes we even drive into a nearby town to go to a restaurant such as Red Lobster to eat. Especially if one of use gets a deer then we go in town to eat for celebration of a successful hunt.
