WaCoyote
Re: Would Bush win if election held today?? [ QUOTE ] Why do you say we. I suppose you vote straight party. I do not understand this theory. Is it because you lack knowledge about the candidates? [/ QUOTE ] You don't understand? The idea that you can't commit to a certian party is a cop out. If you switch back and forth because your scared to be labeled as a dem or republican your mucking up the works. Your slowing down progress. You don't necesarily vote for a single person. Your voting for an ideology. You pick the party that best reflects your values and hope to god that a decent candidate runs under that party. But to answer your question I said "we" meaning republicans. And yes I vote straight party. I am not at all ashamed to admit it either. [/ QUOTE ] So by that theory, you would vote for the scum of the earth because his party agrees with your ideaology. I may be a registered Democrat, but if John McCain is the Republican nominee he'll get my vote, over Kerry, Edwards, and most definitely over Hillary. The Democratic party may fit more with my ideaology, but it's the person you are voting for, not the party. I have never voted, nor will I ever vote a straight party ticket, not when I was a registered Republican, and will not now that I'm a Democrat. A persons political party does not automatically mean that that individual subscribes to the same ideals as you do. Not everyone who voted for Bush is an evangelical Christian. and not everyone who voted for Kerry is a liberal atheist. Vote for the person, not the party. slugshooter
Re: Would Bush win if election held today?? I will say this though, unless things seriously change, I believe that there will be a major shakeup in congress next year, maybe a complete overhaul in who controls both houses. Historically, congressional elections have relied on the popularity of the President. If his numbers are this low, and the criticism is as sharp as it is now this time next year. I do believe you will see the Democratic party in control of congress again next year.
