PAbowhunter86
This winter I want to personalize my arrows. I heard about Capping and cresting. I was wondering If anyone has done this and maybe where I could find out how?
MCH
Re: Personalizing my arrows Just my opinion PA, but if you're talking about cresting or wrapping your arrows for competition, I'd so don't do it. Me, I like to get as much speed out of my equipment as possible when shooting 3-D and cresting and wrapping will slow the arrow down a few FPS. VtBowhunter
Re: Personalizing my arrows I don't like my arrows to stand out any more then necessary.......My 3D arrows are 5575 Goldtip XT Hunters in black. My feathers are black and so are my nocks. I don't want to give any other shooters in my group something to aim for after I pinwheel a target. knobby
Re: Personalizing my arrows Do what you want to do!!!!! i think that wrapping an arrow is the way to go, find the wraps you like you can get them at many shops or lancasterarchery.com, then the easiest way to do it take a mouse pad since it is falt a smooth and lay the wrap down and roll the arrow over it, cheaper than cresting and you cn also remove if you want to change them at anytime, btw, i see several guys with wraps at 3-d's i personally do not use them but most shoots i shoot at have a 280 fps speed ruling plus if you can accuratly judge yardage you wont need to worry about speed
ultratec1
Re: Personalizing my arrows Exactly what Knobby just said. A fast miss is still a miss. By putting on wraps I lost just 5 fps with my hunting arrows. I think that they benefit when looking for your arrow after shooting at a deer. I tried the whole black nock and viens but the guys I shoot with smacked the living daylights outta them anyway.
VtBowhunter
Re: Personalizing my arrows I made it through the entire season with the same dozen arrows that I started with back in January with only a few loses.......it was due to the others not knowing where my arrow was to aim at, lol. I do use wrapped arrows for hunting though........they are great for finding the arrow after the shot.......found mine last week with minimal effort.
