Hi everyone. I got into my stand at 6:30 this morning and put my umbrella up. It has been raining for a couple of days and today wasn't any different. About 7 am I did a short bit of rattling and grunting. I hit it again at 7:30. It wasn't 10 minutes later when I looked around to my left and there was a 5 point buck not 10 yards from me. I had a broad side shot on him, but couldn't draw with out being spotted. I waited until his eyes went behind a couple small trees. I drew back while still seated. He turned right heading towards my stand. I put my pin on him and let it fly with him about 6 yards out. This is the first deer I have ever rattled in! Man what a RUSH!! grin.gif I shot him with a 100 grain Sonic Fury broahead by The American Broadhead Company. I know several people were interested in how these heads would perform, just like myself. I will gladly state these heads perform GREAT. They also fly just like you field points. The pic shows just how much damage it does with a 7/8" head.

I had to include my youngest son. He is 14 months old and this is his first time near a deer. He poked him in his eye. lol I can't wait until I he is old enough to go out with me! grin.gif Good Luck to everyone this year.

Steve

Re: First Deer of Season (pics)

Thank You EVERYONE!

I would like to be able to take the credit for him, but I have to give it to God! If it wasn't for him in my life I know I couldn't do anything!
