How tough are hockey players!!!

Just got off the ice with my double A bantam team (13-14) year olds. First skate as a team after tryouts so ran a fast practice lots of flow drills etc. One kid was a bit slower-I've coached him before so knew his talent level-told him to pick it up to game pace. Anyway after the practice his Mom tells me "Did Jesse tell you he got hit by a truck yesterday-knocked him out of his shoes". Guess that must of slipped his mind lol. Unless a bone is sticking out or they're gushing blood the little buggers never tell you they're hurting.

Apperently tough grin.gif...We took the kids to the rink today and we are getting them signed up for skating/hockey lessons...$239 a pop shocked.gif...but worth it if the love for the game is there or stays there. They better not come home and say one day that they are joining a basketball team grin.gif.....I'll snap grin.gif

The funny thing is he's not by any means one of the grinders on the team. Those kids bring everybody up to their level of play. Treestand where are you located at-it costs us well lets say the equivalent of a guided hunt for a season of double A hockey. Ty romanced his Mom into a $280 buck Synergy stick the other day-guess whose stuck fencing during Thanksgiving to pay for it lol.

Ok so what your saying is my quoted price is cheap grin.gif....there I thought it was expensive. grin.gif

I am in Hudson, Mass. They get 8 weeks of classroom session and ice time sessions. After that, they get put on teams. Now once they get placed, it is going to cost more money. The $239 is just for the classroom lessons and ice lessons. Should be cheaper in Canada, that's all you guys do up there is play hockey. Hockey should come with your dental plan up there grin.gif

Re: How tough are hockey players!!!

How much classroom time are they having-kind of an interestingg concept-we usually strap them into skates and let them have at it. The first few years they just need to be on the ice lots playing games not necessarily hockey. British Bulldog or Soccer on skates are good. Once they learn how to skate the hockey part progresses pretty fast. It's us coaches that have to take the classroom stuff - the higher levels you go the more intense it gets-the last one had a 30 page written test lol. Muff 5,000 might be actually be a bit on the low side-but all sports cost -I've got a kid in almost everyone imaginable and as you move up the skill level it gets costly.
