huntrman
Well, since everyone else likes reading stories about other peoples hunts, I will post my hunt from last evening. My younger brother told me to hunt a stand that he had hung just that morning. I was skeptical at first, but decided to take his advice. Got to the stand at around 4pm. The stand is set up on the edge of a grass field. Got all nice and settled in and decided I better range some distances, before I even thought about doing anything else. So I picked out a few flowers that I knew I would remember. It got to be around 5:10pm when I heard music to my ears. The unmistakeable sound of a deer walking through the woods crunching the leaves. It happened to be 3 does and they walked behind me about 30 yards, but I had no shot. They made their way out into the grass field and went the opposite way of my shooting lane. So I settled in and it wasn't long before I saw action again. Around 5:55pm I kept hearing something in front of me, but couldn't see anything because of all the leaves still on the trees. Finally a lone doe stepped out into the field and headed into my shooting lane about 30 yards away. By this time I was already standing and drawn, ready for the opportunity. The only problem was, she stopped where I could not shoot because of limbs overhanging the edge of the field. She stood there forever and I finally couldn't take it any longer and had to let my bow down. I let it down as easy as I could and luckily she didn't hear me. When she finally took a step, I drew again. This time she kept walking and came even closer. She stepped out at about 22 yards and I gave a soft mouth grunt to stop her. She stopped dead in her tracks and I let the arrow fly. The arrow flew true and I saw the fletchings disappear. The Grim Reaper broadhead did the rest. I watched her sprint to the corner of the field and heard a big crash. I knew I had done the job. I decided not to get down until dark because my brother was still hunting and I did see a bunch of deer while I was waiting. I even saw a decent sized 8 pointer at 10 yards, in the shooting lane I just shot the doe. All in all, I saw 13 deer. Two were bucks(6 and 8 pointers) and the rest does. It was a good way to end the evening. Heres the pic.

huntrman
Re: The story... [ QUOTE ] congrats! how come you didnt shoot the 8 pointer? [/ QUOTE ] Well there were 2 problems. I only had bought one tag, so I didn't have another LEGAL tag to use and he wasn't real big. They can't get big if you shoot them young. I think the 6 point I saw has A TON of potential for his later years. The 8 pointer will be nice too.
