Re: Interdigtel Gland Scent

I have heard of it, but never used it. Most people I know that use it, use it as a calming scent during the early part of archery season. They'll make a drag rag for it and drag it along just like it was doe in heat urine or something. Basically what it does is give the real deer that show up the impression that another deer has passed through unalarmed, so they think it's safe. The added bonus of this is it can be used all year round without alarming deer because the interdigital scent is a scent that is produced all the time. You may get lucky during the rut and have a doe follow the scent that has a buck in toe, or you just might find a curious buck looking for a doe in general, but I'd still use a doe in heat over it.

Re: Interdigtel Gland Scent

Can't hardly find it anymore but I used to use it. Yes it is the scent secreted from the gland between a deer's hoofs. It works fine for laying down a scent trail. A little goes a long way too. Your best bet will be to get close to your stand and then apply it to your drag rag or whatever you are going to use to lay out the scent trail. Then walk away from your stand toward where you hope to get deer to cut your trail. Remove it before you return to your stand. The scent layed down will be stronger where you start and weaker where you finish. A deer that decides to follow your scent trail will usually move in the direction where the scent gets stronger as he follows it. That way he thinks he's actually going in the same direction of the deer he's trying to follow. wink.gif
