Re: Staying out all day...

I do it.it is tough some days but you gotts think about what might pop out at any given moment.if the deer density isn't very high, like here in NS and in Maine also, you gotta be there when they come through.the only way to do this is be there during all daylight hours.Good luck Jim. smile.gif

I do it during gun season each day and a few times leading up to gun season with the bow. During rut if I have the time i spend it 30' up in a tree! It gets tough though!

What do you guys do when it comes time to.... you know.... go? I don't mean number 1, but what if the urge comes? Seriously though?

An all day sit is well planned...LOL....You dont eat alot the night before or anything for breakfast. You do however take food along with you and eat very little at a time.

I have heard of people using Immodium(sp?) to restrict their urges.

Most people take along some TP blush.gifwink.gif

Re: Staying out all day...

Im about to made the endeavor for the first time. My wife's cousin kills some NICE bucks and he usually kills them in the middle of the day.

I have no doubt he has some on the wall that will go both P&Y and B&C. He sits in his stand all day and thats how he connects. Im ready to try it but need to talk the wife into making it without me all day... grin.gif

Well I always have chores to do so can't make it all day plus it gets pretty cold here-what I do though if I'm going to sit for a few hours is take an old easy chair and leave it in the spruce-they are awesome for keeping cold off-you burrow in there and no wind gets at you-tale a sleeping bag to pull over yourself and your set. I fell asleep in mine one time in -35 weather and woke up to a small 4x4 staring at me lol-must of been snoring. One thing though is big bucks tend to travel later in the A'M than alot of people think.

Ok, I have made it 8 hours and was redy to kill my self at the end! I was going crazy! I do want to go for a full day though this sat. and next sat. will be the prime time to be out!

swamphunter1968 I'm with you, what do you all do when nature calls and you are 30' up in a tree?

drop trowl and go? won't deer smell it/you (wither it is a #1 or 2)

if it is a #2 what about tp? arnt the deer goign to see the white tp?

that get's me thinking, I'm going to make camo tp! smile.gif just for the all day hunts. you first hurd it here!

any how, what do you do?

should I cary a tupperware container? and a pee bottle?

what about food? what do you usily eat? drink?

I was also thinking that if I had to I could sit in one stand in the am, then get down and move right to another stand, sit there for the afternoon and then move to another stand for the evening. think it would work? as long as I was quite going from stand to stand why not?

Re: Staying out all day...

In all my years of hunting, I can only remember staying out all day 3 times. I just have a tough time doing it, even knowing that some of the best bucks are taken during the rut at around noon.

I usually see enough deer activity in three to four hours of morning or evening hunting to satisfy my needs in taking or passing on pleanty of deer.

I've told myself that I would like to sit all day this Saturday w/ the rut on here, but I know I won't make it.

As for the relieving yourself thing. Whip it out and go. Heck I think it makes the best lure out there. I've had deer come into my #1 at least 3 times this year. As for #2, well, take some TP along. If it gets to that point that I can't make it out of the woods, then I figure, poop is poop, and if I gotta go, then I GOTTA GO. Heck with the hunting at that point.

Re: Staying out all day...

Me and my family usually stay out all day during the rifle and blackpowder seasons. The land we hunt is a long enough drive away that we can't go home a come back in the middle of the day. I can remember quite a few times when a sandwich hit the ground to shoot a deer. Just pick it up and dust it off.

As for going in the woods, if you gotta go you gotta go.

Re: Staying out all day...

I find it hard to now-a-days. I use to every time out. Now I get down after I shoot the deer.

No sense in hanging out for the rest of the day once you shot one.

Right???? crazy.gifconfused.gifsmirk.gif LOL

Seriously, I try to stay out there all day but can not stay in one spot all day long. If I had a real smokin hot spot I would, but alas, I do not.

I know I have shot more buck within the mid day time frame then during the prime time morning and evening hunts.

This is of coarse is during the rut.

During bow season, when they are still in their summer feeding habits, then I just hunt the morning and evening hunts. 4 hours each.

I did it. Stayed in the tree 11.5 hours. It actaully went by fast. Only problems I had was my feet got cold and I should have brought an extra pee bottle..lol... May do it again next week. The hot tub is sounding good right now..I think I will...lol...
