Griz
The guy that traps for coyotes and what not here on the ranch and for the county has been setting snares out for hogs. For the first time they got $250.000 for hog control because we have so many hogs here... Anyway he set some snares out below my house along a creek. He stopped me the other day and showed me some pictures of some hogs that he caught. He caught 2 big boar hogs in them... They both weighted about 350 - 400 lbs... 1 was a black and white boar that didn't have any ears. The other one was solid black. It had what they call Mule Foot. It's hoof was solid instead of split. If I remember right. I believe the Mule Foot Hog dates way back during the Spaniard days. They were brought to America back then for food... Since the hog is very rare they are going to have it done in a full body mount... When I see him again I was going to ask if I could scan his picturse so I can show yall... I thought it was pretty awesome....
jdickey
Re: That was awesome see... Hey Griz.... interesting that you should post that story about the MULEFOOT pig! We had been talking about them this past summer, when they were being seen in east Texas. Apparently, they are somewhat of a "rare" breed and even have a breeders association.
