LifeNRA
Re: The Wallhangers (14) Hey guys! Sorry but this year was a bust! I had two weeks of rifle season to hunt but nothing to show for. This state is really messed up with the deer numbers. The deer were not around. But I did see a few bucks, but none ever gave me a good shot. Including a very nice ten pointer! In two weeks I only saw two does. Both were well in range, but I just couldnt take any of them due to the lack of deer I seen in two weeks! So I burned my doe tag, it was only the second doe tag I bought in 30 years of hunting. I tried to help the team, but I got skunked! Hope the rest had better luck than I did!
iabow
Re: The Wallhangers (14) Nice buck smitteken, congrats. Good looking pup too, we just got a black lab about the same size, feisty rascal. Well I shot a nice big doe for deer management on the guy’s land I was hunting during shotgun season. Had two trophy class deer about 150 yds from my stand in an open field. One was a tall 12 and the other a nice 10, beautiful deer. Just a little to far for my shotgun. Was told I should have taken a poke but that’s not the way I hunt, don't want to chance wounding one. The ten was only about 70 yds from the shed where two guys were inside getting warm and eating chili . All and all my group shot seven deer with two smaller bucks. Shotgun hunting is alot different then what I'm accustomed to. Deer were running all over the place. It was crazy, almost had two does run me over. I like my bowhunting. Sorry I couldn't have helped the team out more, it's been an off season this year for some reason, mental mistakes that is. Still don't understand how I didn't see that small rack and mistaken it for a doe, oh well. Now I'm starting to get the itch to talk turkey . Oh ya seen some big toms milling around in my turkey woods, and this year I can use my shotgun not just my bow .
Smitteken
Re: The Wallhangers (14) BUMP... Is anyone still at it? I've got until Jan 12 to fill another bow tag. I'll pop a doe if I have too, but theres a couple good one still wandering around. I think ones an 8pt and another is a 10pt so it probably won't help us out to much more but I'll whack one if I get the chance. If anyone else has deer to enter go ahead, we're starting to look like sissies.

Guest finnlander
Re: The Wallhangers (14) Hey fellas, This is the last season for Michigan hunting. Can't believe its almost over. I have lots of time to hunt this weekend and hoping to improve on my earlier buck. If not, I'll be happy with what I have. If the opportunity arises I'll stick a doe also. Good luck guys. I will get my entry posted up after this weekend. LATER.
iabow
Re: The Wallhangers (14) TTT. Man I tell ya, can't stand poachers. I've found a couple dead deer this week, with the hind quarters removed, chops removed and the rest thrown over a dike. The real bad part was they cut one of his ears off at the base, looked like just for kicks, I informed the dnr. Any one still out and about? Smitteken
Re: The Wallhangers (14) I was out about a week ago to a spot that I thought hadn't been touched since before gun season. Thats what I get for thinking. There were two kids riding fourwheelers around, trespassing all over the property I hunt.

iabow
Re: The Wallhangers (14) Well going to start to do some shed hunting, see if I can find that big boy and show you what he looked like. Just wanted to say thanks to my teammates, even if we didn't win, it was fun for my first time in the contest. Really looking forward to this spring turkey contest, how many of you will be in that? My smallest tom yet is a 22.25 lb, 1 1/8" spur and a 9.5" beard, my lastest one had triple beards10"5"4". Last year I tried just archery hunting them and what an amazing time. Had a Big tom 3-4 yds from me spitting and drumming and though it was my first year not harvesting one it was an awesome experience. Iowa rule change allows me to use both bow and shotgun this year. I have some great turkey woods to hunt, so I'm very excited. Going to use my natural voice more this year and I am looking to get a blind. Well thanks again and good luck.
