ladydiehard
after work for squirrels. A boy and a girl, ages 14 and 12, that recently passed hunter's safety and have never hunted before will be going out today with me for their first hunting experience. Hope to get a few bushytails! ladydiehard
Re: Taking some kids hunting today These kids want to deer hunt but maybe next year. They've never hunted anything before and have no family that hunts. I'll have to see how they do.

beagleboy
Re: Taking some kids hunting today Very rewarding experience. I enjoy taking out friends who have never hunted and introduce them to hunting for the first time and looking at their faces when they see their first deer or hear that tom sound off on a spring morning. Priceless.

ladydiehard
Re: Taking some kids hunting today We saw some squirrels (and some deer!) but they stayed too far away for a shot with a shotgun. 22 would have worked but I didn't have it along...needs to be sighted in. The kids were happy though just to get out and see something. They were really excited about the deer they saw at close range. Squirrel season is far from over. Theres still so many leaves on the trees that they are not real easy to see right now. I told the kids we'd go out again soon. We really didn't have much time this last trip. Sun is setting pretty early now. And once those leaves are off, we'll see more I'm sure. Got some big fox squirrels in the area. Hoping the kids will get a crack at them. Dakota
Re: Taking some kids hunting today Well that's good that they just enjoyed being outside on God's green earth. The hunt is about family, friends, and the outdoors. Not just the hunt.
