Re: Rattling

I say there is nothing special in what to do with rattling. Mix it up a bit, do what you feel.

I rattled in a Huge 10 ptr years ago (good golly was he big), banging my aluminum arrow against my bow and playing yankee doodle on my trumpet (grunter).

Sometimes i rattle soft, sometimes hard and long. Hard, i mean i busted tips of my tines off. LOL And it hurts like heck when i hit my hands with them.

If i feel nothing is near by, then i smack them hard to get the sound out.

I have had some that come flying in, to where i don't even get a chance to get my bow in my hand.

I have had some come in VERY slowly and i rattled again and he pin pointed me. Or i figured nothing was coming after a little bit of a wait and got up tooo early, then heard horns hitting limbs while it was running.

It will mostly depend apon how the deer feels that day.

I would rattle now a little. Last year, 1 1/2 weeks into october, i rattle in a Big 6 ptr Twice! (16-17 wide) He came flying in both times and i was rattling hard too. (needed 4 or more pts on one side)

Best time to rattle, when its still out and a good calm cold morning. Phewwww, thats when i have had my most excitable hunts. LOL

good luck
