waterfowler_gal
Quick vent story on my behalf: Go to Wally-mart World to go pick some shotgun shells up for my big hunting trip I am leaving for in a few hours here... So I wait for a while in line at the cashier... I observe this guy and realize how long and how pocky he is.... Then I am up to bat.. He asks me "Are you camping this weekend?" I said well kinda of I am going hunting. He said "what for?" So I said pheasant, deer and ducks. He says "you better not be hunting close to my family's land! I feed and take care of the deer. I don't go out and kill the poor defenseless animals." (Keep in mind I am driving to the other side of the state of Minnesota to hunt the border area around South Dakota) I about fall backwards when my jaw hit the ground.. I paused-looked around and continued to explain how it is not at all what he thinks. I proceed with the circle of life and chain of food cycles as well as population management and yada-yada-yada.... Then I just got my lic. renewed and he was looking at my papers and my clipped ID and told me it wasn't a valid form of ID. He kept asking me how old I was and you can clearly see it on the papers and clipped ID. So he calls a manager and I wait longer. Then the manager comes and tells him it is ok. He charges me for two extra boxes of shells instead of what I orginally had. He kept wiping his nose and made me really frustrated.. I understand people are free to their own opinions and beliefs but don't raze on me when I come to your company to purchase needed hunting products and then proceed to rip on me and tell me I am in the wrong for what I belief in... Never will I go there again-NEVER! Ok now I am done
ultratec1
Re: Never in my LIFE Real quick fix for that would be to call the store and talk to the manager. I could not nor would not put up with that garbage. If I'am spending my money in your store than I would hope that I would be treated with some kind of common courtesy. Not in a rude and inoperate manner.
waterfowler_gal
Re: Never in my LIFE Yes Thank you... Normally I am pretty thick skinned but trying to get everything together for my trip and having to work late today hasn't helped my patience level... Tomorrow is a new DAY and pheasant opener too! Muff
Re: Never in my LIFE oh yeah report him!!!!!....and why stay away??? keep going back for more shells (but only pay for what you have) make sure you keep going to him. Do not let a antie get to you...he will think he has won!!!! make sure he knows you are a hunter and and will not stop hunting just because he thinks it wrong. hutchies
Re: Never in my LIFE I would have asked for the manager to be paged and sorted it out right there with him and the manager. He would have gotten written up at least. Never let someone treat you like that because then they think they can do it to the next person. Hopefully that next person will not be a new hunter and change his mind about hunting. I would have asked how he likes eating beef, chicken, pork, lamb, fish and then said I guess none of those are defenseless are they and walked off. I am getting fired up just replying to this. I did have a lady that worked at wal mart ask me how many guns I had once. I told here 9 and she looked at me like I was crazy. I told her you have to have a primary and backup for every kind of game you hunt and laughed.
beagleboy
Re: Never in my LIFE It's a work place where the cashiers should not voice their opinions. What's next, a vegetarian cashier is going to bash a customer for buying meat. That cashier has no right to voice their opinion. I would have definately talked to a manager. Guest Andrea
Re: Never in my LIFE What a loser. I used to work at a Wal-Mart a long time ago and I can tell you......employees are NOT allowed to harass people like that. You should call the store back and let the manager know that if Wal-Mart is going to sell hunting supplies AND liscenses then you should be able to make these purchases without certain employees trying to make you feel bad. ( Not that it did make you feel bad...but you know what I mean) Boy that just boils my blood.

JimT
Re: Never in my LIFE I would definatly report him. Sounds to me like he should be working at Target, not pro hunting and fishing WalMart.

stevebeilgard
Re: Never in my LIFE this incident definately needs to be reported to the manager. i agree with going back to wal mart for purchases. hindsight is 20/20 usually, so i would have said about his deer " yes, i'll be hunting right next door. i hope you've been feeding them corn". lol
