HarvDog
Have ya'll see many deer moving? Admittedly I've only been out a few times but each time, I've only seen 1 or 2 deer. I'm gonna try my luck tomorrow afternoon even though it will be fairly warm.

deerhunter10
Re: VA Hunters They are moving pretty good where I'm at. I killed a small 4 point on private property and seen 4 other deer Thursday. I have also seen 5 deer on public property. My cousin seen 7 deer on opening day, killed one last wednesday and missed one yesterday. My uncle has seen 8 deer altogether and missed one. Guest Andrea
Re: VA Hunters Today was the first day of archery season here in NW Florida. Haven't heard of ANYONE getting anything today. It's still warm and there's that danged old full moon lighting up everything. Still waiting for that cold snap!!!
smo
Re: VA Hunters I have been hunting 8 different days with not much action yet. Usually by now I would have at least seen one good buck, but I havn't seen any while hunting. One buddy shot at an 11 pointer the first day and missed. A different buddy shot at a big buck last week and missed. I hope the missing disease ain't catching. Overall we've not had much action. There is lots of acorns and apples. Keeping the deer in the woods. When do you think the rut will hit in Va.

HarvDog
Re: VA Hunters Yeah...like I said in my journal, I was wondering if it was because the temperature was 77 degrees or the 15-20 mph winds or maybe simply because there aren't any more deer left on the face of the planet. It's definitely frustrating but I know it's still early in the season.
AJ
Re: VA Hunters I know they are still here. I see them every morning and evening. The full moon is not helping much, nor are the summer temps any help. Are you over hunting the same stands/area? Deer pattern the hunters quicker than hunters pattern the deer. The temps should be dropping soon. They will get moving then. The pre-rut should be hitting in the next few weeks.
smo
Re: VA Hunters It's going to be a tough season. There are plenty of acorns and apples to draw the deer into the woods. I'm going to let the big buck make the mistake when the rut turns on.
HarvDog
Re: VA Hunters [ QUOTE ] Are you over hunting the same stands/area? [/ QUOTE ] I really don't think so. I've only been out 3 times and each time in a different stand. These are all on the same property but in different areas.
jbeck
Re: VA Hunters [ QUOTE ] Its the October LULL! [/ QUOTE ] Yep, this time of year I only hunt mornings if it was a cool night. Acorns everywhere, and they always seem to disapear this time of year.
