Re: VA Hunters

Today was the first day of archery season here in NW Florida. Haven't heard of ANYONE getting anything today. It's still warm and there's that danged old full moon lighting up everything. crazy.gif

Still waiting for that cold snap!!! smirk.gif

Re: VA Hunters

I have been hunting 8 different days with not much action yet. Usually by now I would have at least seen one good buck, but I havn't seen any while hunting.

One buddy shot at an 11 pointer the first day and missed. A different buddy shot at a big buck last week and missed. I hope the missing disease ain't catching. Overall we've not had much action. There is lots of acorns and apples. Keeping the deer in the woods. When do you think the rut will hit in Va.

Re: VA Hunters

Yeah...like I said in my journal, I was wondering if it was because the temperature was 77 degrees or the 15-20 mph winds or maybe simply because there aren't any more deer left on the face of the planet. mad.gif

It's definitely frustrating but I know it's still early in the season.

Re: VA Hunters

I know they are still here. I see them every morning and evening. The full moon is not helping much, nor are the summer temps any help. Are you over hunting the same stands/area? Deer pattern the hunters quicker than hunters pattern the deer. The temps should be dropping soon. They will get moving then. The pre-rut should be hitting in the next few weeks.
