Black bear hunting

Well I'm heading out to the woods for my first black bear. Last year I had one walk under my stand the day before opening day!! Ugh! My buddy just got an old mature boar. The Check station estimated it's weight to be over 400 lbs close to 500. I'm still waiting on some pics from him. So I get his good stand Friday evening and all day Saturday. Can't wait!! Hope to have a good story with pics for yall on Sat. night!!

Re: Black bear hunting

Not too far away. My buddy owns land on top of a mountain in VA. It is in the northern part of VA Bordering West Virginia. He took a black bear last year too. Lot's of bears running in his woods. Our bow season is about a month long and then we have a four day muzzleloader season. I'm hoping to get mine early during the bow season so I don't have to take off work during the ML season.

Can't beat a free black bear hunt.

Re: Black bear hunting

That is great. Hope you get one.

Remember, black bear are one of the toughest things to field judge size. Many guys I know have shot small ones and thought they were well over 400 pounds.

Good luck.
