Hoyt03
Re: what would you do? I would prob just let it be because its not really hurting anything. I just dont like the thought of being a little taddle tale and running to the wardens. Now if its something more serious I would report, but I can think of alot more things the wardens need to do other then worry about a tree stand. I see them all over the place here in PA, it must be legal here
willfish03
Re: what would you do? this is a permit area and it states on the premit all stands must be removed daily. is this fair to the rest of us permit holders

Guest Xen
Re: what would you do? you could let it be, or take it down if it really bothers you. or maybe leave a little note on it - could be the guy never bothered to read the part about taking them down
beagleboy
Re: what would you do? No use calling the game warden on something so small, this time of year they are swamped with other calls like poaching. I would try to take it down or leave a letter on the stand stating that you called the DEC's telephone number and you left the person's licence plate number on the answering machine. Then two things could happen. One he removes the stand and two, the guy will never show up again.
DSGB
Re: what would you do? I have the same problem on some public land here. The rules state that stands are to be removed daily, but I've found at least four lock-ons this year. One of them happens to be in an area I hunted last year and killed a six pointer. It's a good walk from the nearest road and I carried my climber all the way down in there only to find someone has hung a lock-on IN THE NEXT TREE! Of all the places on the property, they chose the tree right next to the one I put my climber in. I guess they saw where I climbed the tree, and hung their stand. I didn't even see it when I walked in because it was dark. I got about 15 feet up and looked over and there it was. I could have stepped off of my climber onto the platform of this stand. I was kinda mad, but what am I gonna do. It doesn't bother me that someone is hunting there - it's public land - but the fact that I carry my climber in and out and this lazy person just hung a stand and left it. I thought about hunting out of it, but what am I gonna do when he comes to hunt it and I'm in it. I'd like to avoid any confrontation in the woods, because I'm there to relax. I don't want to carry my climber all the way in there only to find him in his stand. I guess I gotta get there earlier than he does. Thank God that Alabama's season started and I can hunt my grandfather's land.

Guest asilvia68
Re: what would you do? Its the same here. You are suppose to remove any stands but it doesnt happen. Twice this year I have gotten in the woods at dark and as it got light I noticed a built stand and a hang on 2 trees away from me. The last time my normal area was flooded and had find find another spot. My have been just good luck I found and area with a stand already there...not that I use them cause you never know how or who put them up.
