Full Moon

Do you think the full moon hinders or helps your chances of harvesting a deer? I was out 2 weeks ago and I saw deer and it was windy and no full moon. Went out last night and there wasn't much wind but there was a full moon and I didn't see a thing.

What do you all think?

Re: Full Moon

I think daylight deer movement is lower during a full moon period but some deer will still be on the move.

I hunted through this past weekend and saw more bucks than I had been seeing this season including the 1st mature buck I've seen this year. I didn't see any early morning movement. All the deer I saw were moving during the last hour of the day.

Re: Full Moon

I believe the moon does slow down movement at the times we usually see deer moving. This past weekend I made myself sit longer in the morning and between 10:00 and 11:00 I saw the most movement I had all season.

Re: Full Moon

I feel a full moon affects the afternoon hunts more than mornings. As has been said the deer lay up in the mornings and usually move later. Then I usually see my deer between 8:30 and 10:30. In the afternoons if I see anything it comes at around dark 30.

Re: Full Moon

when i hunted a full moon last weekend i didnt see nothing but last monday when i hunted it was still full moon and it frosted (usally they move on a frost)

so the deer were kinda confused here in MICH. I had three bucks in front of me but although they were 2 spikes and a 3 point, and some doe's

it was quite funny.
