Taking away the 1st Amendment for “some”?

In the wake of violence this weekend from Toledo Ohio, some media outlets have suggested that “some” people should not have the right to freedom of speech and assembly. Of course they are pointing to the Nazi group or black haters as their “some” poster children but wait – Nazi’s are not the only ones that hate people.

Lets not omit the fact that it wasn’t the Nazis that were creating the problems, it was the angry mob of gang members that decided that the prudent thing to do was start rioting. They threw large rocks at police, set fire to a business and vandalized vehicles and stores. Over 100 people were arrested. But the most ridiculous aspect to this story is what some of the defenders of the thugs who rioted are saying.

Residents are upset that city leaders "allowed" the Nazis to march. The Mayor of Toledo correctly pointed out that they do have the right to walk on the sidewalks just like anybody else. This comes from a simple understanding of the First Amendment. You know, freedom of speech and all that.

So now the blame for the riots is being assigned in the media to the white supremacists, instead of where it belongs: the rioters who couldn't ignore them. I heard one news anchor this morning asked the police chief of Toledo why he didn't arrest the idiot Nazis. For what? Exercising their freedom of speech? If it were up to the media, they would be the only ones that were afforded the 1st Amendment.

So if we’re going to take away the freedom of speech from the Nazis because they are a hate group then we can only assume that the blacks should have this taken away from them….no doubt, the majority of blacks hate whites as much or if not more that whites hate them! BUT YOU WON'T HEAR THAT IN ANY MEDIA AVENUES.

Heres a thought, take away the rights of the first amendment from the media. Seriously though, good to see that the mayor recognized that the nazi group had rights, even though most of us do not agree with what they have to say, and did not allow the media to make him buckle.

I agree completely here.

You can also take the same point on religion as well. Freedom of speech obviously aplies to all religions but Christianity. Christians can't say anything because they might offend someone...but all the someones can say whatever they want about Christians with complete freedom.
