CDubWSR Posted October 26, 2005 Report Share Posted October 26, 2005 Re: hunting elk with the .270 i would just stick to a 130 grain. that is the bullet a 270 was designed to shoot and as long as you put it in the vitals, its gonna do the trick just fine. i know people that have killed elk with a 243 no problem. Bullet lodged in the opposite front shoulder but still did the trick. 3 steps and down he went. Got the whole thing on tape. The need for good shot placement is very important.
