The saga continues!!!!!!!

I am so mad I could bit nails in half. Most of you know what my wife went thru yesterday. She walks in today and is confronted by her boss and supervisor and told they felt threatened when she told them she needed off tues. and thurs. at 4 o'clock and that she needed to tell them by tomorrow what she is going to do because if she can't work these 2 afternoons til close she will be fired since she is still in her first 90 days. I told her if it was me I would tell them that I got it worked out and find another job as soon as possible and walk out. All this for a measley $6 an hour. I don't know what else to do. We really don't need for her to get fired right now or quit but I am so mad that it makes me want to go up there and talk to the owner cause if they thought they felt threatened how do they think she felt when they told her that. It just digusts me when I have dropped about $10,000 in this place and they have always been nice to me only to find out they treat their employees and more importantly my wife like crap.

Re: The saga continues!!!!!!!

During that first 90 days they can fire her anytime without notice. She can also quit anytime within that 90 days without notice. I think she should quit.

I also think that all families that have a two-income partnership, should learn to live and pay all their bills on only one income. That way your wife does not feel obligated to you, to keep a job that doesn't pay well, and overall sucks.

You are an operations manager.....Your family should be able to live on your income alone, and if you can't.....You need to start now, making some adjustments to your lifestyle, or your family will suffer later.

Re: The saga continues!!!!!!!

McDonalds pays more than $6.00 per hour don't they? At least pretty close to that. Sounds like she should walk right now. No sense in getting fired up about anything, what are her choices? Continue to work where others make up the rules, fair or not, or quit and find another job. I say quit.

Re: The saga continues!!!!!!!

We live within our means the problem is we are right in the middle or remodeling a house we bought and if she straight out quits we are going to have less to fund this project. I have never had a late payment on any bill that I owed. My credit is spotless and it is going to stay that way because I don't take on more than I can handle. Soon as we are done with this house she can stay at home and she knows that and that is the reason she has not quit.

$6 a hour is average around here. Wages are very low. I keep trying to get her to go back to college and finish so she doesn't have to go thru crap like this. She has dylexia and that limits her from many jobs. As soon as they hear she has that it is sorry we can't hire you.

look into subbing for schools I am from oklahoma and all you have to do is go thru a short training (which some schools pay you for) I did it while in college and made between 40-60$ a day and its pretty easy and enjoyable. Just a thought she could probably find enough work to stay busy. just apply at several districts.

Re: The saga continues!!!!!!!

i feel your pain hutchies, ym wife has been working as a loan closing agent for an abstact co. for about 3 months. she told them up front she had no experience, and they said they would train her. another girl trained her for a couple weeks and then quit. she has had a few mess ups, but nothing major. yesterday she asked to take off 30 min. early, seeing how she rarely take an hour lunch break she is entitled to. her boss went berzerk, they had a pretty heated argument, and when she got to work today, they fired her. she is devestated. i told her not to worry, she shouldnt have to work in that hostile of an environment anyway. i work 2 jobs, firefighter, and oil field on my off days. but she just does not click with the stay at home thing. one word of advice, support her in WHATEVER she decides to do, cause if you dont, they way they think, it will be like you are not on her side. good luck to her!
