huntinsonovagun
Well, the Marines are hounding me again. He called and asked what I was doing tomorrow so we could "chat." I told him I was going hunting and then to work at 3. He then goes on the say that if I kill anything, give him a call and he'll check it in on his lifetime license, so I don't have to waste my tag. I have SO much respect for our veterans, but he's not setting a good example at all. I know so many people that do this, but a complete stranger offering to do this "for" me, so it may give him an edge to sign me up.....oops....he just pushed me farther the other direction...... hutchies
Re: Sad.... Once they find out you might want to sign up they will not quit hounding you til you are 40. We had an Army recruiter say we could take the test before we signed up but then supposedly he was informed that he lied to us and was trying to get our signatures on paper before we could take the test. Tsmola
Re: Sad.... that's why I never filled out any of the papers the recruiters had in high school just to get a lanyard or whatever other little souvenir they were handing out when you filled out the little card. I filled out the selective service thing online and that's as much as they are getting out of me. If I had wanted to join the military I would have out of High School. I've got one classmate from High School overseas right now, right in the heart of Baghdad, gives me a little scare everytime I see the flag at half-mast because I know someone from Michigan died and I just hope it's not him. I have another friend in the Marines, but they don't think he's gonna go thank god. It is sad to see something like that, the tactics of recruiters have been seeming to sink to new lows over the past few months, I read an article on it a little while ago in the paper. Nick
Re: Sad.... Yeah, the bug the heck out of me too. I've never had one go that far but they always try to invite themselves to my house for a "chat". Its like if I want to join, ill join, i dont need you to tell me about it. Tominator
Re: Sad.... Sounds like he's just trying to sway you like any good recruiter (I used to work in a recruiting office) But, I agree, probably the wrong way to do it. Master_Chief
Re: Sad.... After 23 years in the Navy (And no recruiting tour) I have little respect for guys that tarnish our image in away. The men and women out there fighting don't need anymore to deal with than whay they have now. I will stop before I go off the deep end. BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Sad.... They alll arent like that lets not just lump them all together because one moron does something stupid like this ... remember there is a war on and recruiting now is harder then ever I wouldn't want there job not in a million years. Newarcher
Re: Sad.... HSOAG, Don't go crazy and kill your dreams because someone offered to do something stupid like that. If your dreams are to be a Marine...and I don't think there is any finer calling in the world...then do it. There are many other recruiters out there that you can sign up with or I am sure you can do it on line. Don't be one of these guys that donates to the anti-arborist society all because a tree pile drived him into the ground once! Good luck! muggs
Re: Sad.... I had a guy from the Army show up at my door out of nowhere. I didn't know him, and never talked to him in my life. He knocked at my door on a Saturday, around 8am, and said "hey Eric, let's go play paintball, and then we're all having lunch!" I said, "you woke me up for that" and slammed the door in his face. horst
Re: Sad.... Thay arent all like that.I was talking to one right before I graduated, I wanted to sign up at the time and he personally drove me the 3 hours to Sioux falls for the physical, and paperwork.Somethings from my mis- spent yoth popped up at the last minute and kept me from joining. He went out of his way to get around it and help me out with it but i guesse rules are rules
