AJ
Re: Barnes Triple Shock X-Bullets I have heard of them but I have not tried them. The standard X-Bullet is solid copper and since it is less dense compared to lead, it makes for a longer bullet. The standard X-Bullets had a long bearing surface vs a standard copper jacketed lead bullet. This causes more friction, fouling, pressure, etc. Triple Shock designed bullets have grooves in their bearing surface to reduce friction, fouling, pressure, etc. Personally, I prefer a lead bullet for almost all of my big game hunting. I have used the X-Bullet in .30 caliber but it did not shoot good enough for my liking. I have had good success with it in the .25 caliber though. On a smaller caliber, I would tend to use a bullet like the X-Bullet. In the larger calibers, copper jacketed lead bullets are my choice. OJR
Re: Barnes Triple Shock X-Bullets I used the Barnes, 140 grain, Triple Shock bullets in my 270 and shot a buffalo with them. Penetration was great and the accuracy was also very good. I had a 3 shot group that was less than 1" at 100 yards, 1 3/4"'s at 200 yards. The fouling with these was not any worse than a regular bullet. Now for deer I am using the Hornady, 130 grain Interbonds. Don't need anything as tough as the Barnes for deer hunting.
