beagleboy
What would you do if you arrowed a buck and never found it right away. A week later you find the buck. Would you tag the buck's antlers or would you just take the antlers and not tag them?
VTbowman
Re: What would you do if? It all depends on if I continued to hunt after thinking it was gone for good. In VT you get 1 buck tag. I would hope to of filled it by then. LOL I suppose, in all honesty, I would not use a tag on a dead deer that had been viewed as lost and long gone. Especially after I did everything I could to find it. Once I felt I had done everything I would continue to hunt and hope to use my 1 tag on soemthing else. Just like I would not tag a found dead deer if it were dead from someone else shooting and not finding it. I would however grab the rack of ANY deer I find that is not claimable by anyone else. JimT
Re: What would you do if? I probably would not tag it unless it was a huge buck. And it was unscathed and frozen.
SaskMan
Re: What would you do if? I'd tag it. First of all I wouldn't be shooting unless I felt it was a wallhanger and if I found it eventually that is where I'd be hanging it and to do so it has to be tagged. I won't pretend that the meat means that much to me though I enjoy venison and shoot a doe and a buck each year but in all honesty I'd be better off driving to the butcher shop and spending some $$ on some beef and pork than filling my truck with gas umpteen times and buying a bunch of little gadgets to take along hunting. Guest asilvia68
Re: What would you do if? Couple of years ago on my way home from work a girl hit a good size doe with her car...just clipped her as she tried jumping over the car. I stopped helped the girl and called the police for assistance. Since it was 1:30am I told the officer I have a tag on my and would claim the deer. I took her to a check in station and DEM came right down, gave me a new tag and put a band on her instead. Not only did I get another tag I was able to fill the freezer. Ok no jokes on road kill!!!!
