wtnhunt
Re: Buck Fever Go hunting. If you get buck fever or the shakes when you see a good buck, try to visualize the deer as a target just as you would when you practice.
Master_Chief
Re: Buck Fever If I ever stop getting it I will quit hunting. That's what it is all about to me. That being said I think we can control it. Breathe deep, bend at the knees, visualize as wtnhunt said. Good luck.
Guest tyshe17
Re: Buck Fever Deep breaths, and I tell myself that I have practied and prepared (through shooting and setting up a stand ) to make this successful then I just keep looking where i want the arrow or bullet to hit and dont take my eyes off of it. From there on the body takes over and bc of repitition it is muscle memory.
David_218
Re: Buck Fever [ QUOTE ] HOW DO YOU STOP BUCK FEVER??????? i have it bad [/ QUOTE ] When the moment of truth arrives, and that big buck appears; just take a deep breath, take your time aiming, and tell youself: "If I miss so what"
c_lou
Re: Buck Fever It can never be stopped. Controlled yes, but not stopped. The more deer you shoot the better you will get at controlling it. Not me though, I shake like a leaf. It usually helps if I spot the deer coming in from a ways out. That way I can shake before he gets to me, and then be calm enough to make the shot.

I take deep breaths and tell myself silently to calm down. And then shake like a leaf after the deer is gone or shot! Gotta love it!
JimT
Re: Buck Fever You have to be in total control of your emotions. I had a real nice buck total me so bad last season that I could barely pull my bow back. It is an awsome feeling, and I hope it never goes away. beagleboy
Re: Buck Fever I agree take your eyes off the antlers once you decide to take that deer. Try to control your breathing and pick a spot. Good luck. We all get buck fever to one degree or another the key is controlling it.

toddyboman
Re: Buck Fever As many other have said once you have decided to try and harvest the buck stop looking at the antlers. Start preparing for your shot. WHen am I going to draw. Where do I want to try and stop him/her. By doing these things it helps me stop thinking about how awesome those horns look. And take your time, generally you will rush your shot Most of the time you have a lot more time than you think. The day I loose "Buck/doe Fever" is the day I sell all my gear! Guest asilvia68
Re: Buck Fever Its all emotional but it is controllable. Just need to concentrate on the basics. Breathing, distance, where its going, when your going to take the shot. Like everyone has said it doesnt matter if its a buck or doe we all get it. I hope I never loose that feeling!!!
